She was no queen. She was his king; the ruler of his heart. A demon being ruled by an angel – how cruel. How could Malphas say that to her? How could he still feel?

It was her fault. She could've just said the truth in the very beginning, but she didn't. Because she didn't trust him before.

Now Malphas was acting like he had never seen her at all, and that stung. He wouldn't talk to her no matter how much she pursued the matter. She asked for his forgiveness and yet, it wasn't enough. It would never be enough. Everything was in chaos, and she almost lost him. She didn't want that to happen ever again. She just wanted everything to go back to normal. Unfortunately, that seemed to be impossible. Nothing's normal anymore.

Lilith was on the move.

No. Everyone was on the move, and here she was, thinking about Malphas. Gabriel could feel him – no, the whole world slipping through her fingers.

To her surprise, Malphas stopped abruptly.

They were supposed to go across the dimension to get to the fifth Inner-Circle but something seemed to bother him. "Malphas?" her voice was shaky, unsure. After everything that happened, she knew he would not look at her.

"How fast can you run?"

That was odd. "Why?"

He clenched his fists and closed his eyes, assessing the situation they were in. Slowly, he dragged out the words, "The Inner-Circles are no longer functioning."

Gabriel looked around. They were half-way there – to the fifth. In a way, the two of them seemed to be in a limbo. Swirling lines and colors rotated around them, even the time was bending. Numbers were floating like huge balloons, and the path they were walking on was dead black with stars as its patterns. Glowing stars burst every time they move. As it bursts, another number would stretch and fill up the time gap, making their pathway go longer than before.

However, she could see the light at the end of this tunnel of a limbo. It was just a matter of time, but the problem was, these stars and numbers prevented them to reach their final destination.

Malphas was restraining himself, she could tell. He must have wanted to destroy something – anything that would bring out that anger. He had been hurt. Badly. Gabriel could not blame him. He did all these for her, and what did he get in return? Lies.

"Each Inner-Circle is starting to have a fallout –"

She cut him off, "Fallout? What happens to those people. . . ?"

"They die, unless I do something about it." He clamped his jaw. "But I can't do anything about it. If I even try to re-make it, I'd lose everything."
