11. ELEVEN : up in the air

Maybe Ella should've felt bad about ditching Gwen but she didn't. Not to sound heartless or anything like that, it was just she never really got to see Peter. This was a chance for it to be just him and her, no cockblock of a Gwen around. If course Gwen did it unknowingly but sometimes it just got too much.

Gwen would be at home, probably happy to be drinking the hot cocoa she had refused earlier but Ella didn't want to think about Gwen anymore. She wanted to think about Peter. The boy who showed up unannounced and hurt, yet there they were, swinging around the city like a couple of monkeys. Spiders? She didn't really know. All she knew is that she would kill Peter if he ever dropped her. Ella would come back from the dead and butch slap him for dropping her.

She couldn't help but let out a little laugh as she thought about that, hugging herself closer to Peter. It was a mystery wherever he was going to take her. Ella was going to count this as her first date with Peter. The wind whipped her hair as buildings flew past them in a blur of lights.

The city looked beautiful from up above, sparkling with such beauty that you could only see above. Not that she wanted to but to quote the author John Green because the quote seemed fitting at the moment. "The town was paper but the memories were not." Just like New York. Up close it was ugly and filled with evil unimaginable but far away it was a paper town, sitting so perfectly lit in the distance. The people though, the people were the best part. They were her favorite part about moving to the city. Everyone was so unique and different.

Take Peter and Gwen for example. Who knew she'd meet the infamous Spider-Man vigilante and who knew it would be Peter Parker of all people. Or who knew Gwen Stacey was going to be her best friend. The quit wit girl was just like Ella but different in so many ways. They had become her best friends and moving to this paper town to make memories to last a lifetime, that was all she wanted. Sure, there was the article but Ella wasn't really staying for that anymore.

She was staying for family.

Her and Peter, they were an awkward family. She couldn't lie about that but they still made things work not matter how hard life can get.

Tears pricked her eyes from the wind blurring her vision from the world around her. All she could feel was Peter press yo against her, holding her so tight she was afraid she'd lose circulation. But that's how she new he cared. He cared enough to treat her like a fragile doll. One drop and she'd be as good as dead. Not that Ella was fragile in any way, if she wanted to, she could kick someone's ass. After all it was New York and you had to be prepared for the worst.

Apparently, Peter had this all planned out already a she knew where he was going. Ella couldn't help but smile at his spontaneous decision. On a date with the amazing Spider-Man. Now that would be a header.
