Notch's Point of View
Another week passed since Emma came to Mojang Training Center. She came every day, working with Mace on sword fighting.
Meanwhile, other customers came and went. Most preferred working alone. Only a few wanted personal trainers. Notch had two people he trained personally, two guys who wanted to impress a girl.
One Saturday, Notch and Genny were out on a walk. The others were taking care of the training center.
"Do you think this will work, Notch?" Genny asked, stopping suddenly.
"What will work?" Notch asked.
"The training center. We're barely earning any money, because we have to pay all the bills. Do you think we'll ever start gaining more money?" Genny explained.
Notch thought for a moment. He had to keep Genny optimistic about this. When Genny wasn't optimistic, the whole thing went downhill.
"Of course it'll work," he reassured her. They had stopped near Central Park. The huge monster-proof gates that led out of the city were on the other side of the park.
"Oh, thank you, Notch," Genny said, hugging him. "That's just what I needed to hear."
Notch smiled as he hugged her back. Could this be his chance?
Genny pulled back from the hug, arms still around Notch. She looked him in the eyes. Notch looked back. Her bright blue eyes were stunning.
They leaned in close to each other. This was it, Notch's chance.
Just before their lips touched, they heard a scream.
Notch and Genny jerked away from each other, looking in the direction of the scream.
It was some female citizen, pointing and stating in horror at the iron gates.
Notch looked at the gates. He wanted to scream too.
Monsters were pouring in through a hole in the "monster-proof" gates.
There were Zombies, Skeletons, Spiders, Creepers, Endermen, and Slimes. They were destroying everything in sight, including people that weren't smart enough to run away.
Why aren't the Zombies and Skeletons burning in the sunlight? Notch wondered. They're not wearing helmets or anything.
"Come on!" Genny yelled, grabbing Notch's hand and pulling him farther into the city.
They ran, ahead of all the monsters. Notch had no idea where they were going. He just followed Genny.
Monsters never attacked New Block City in huge groups before. They weren't smart enough to attack in huge groups. And yet, here they were, doing just that.
It wasn't until they got to 2nd Street that Notch realized where Genny was going.
Mojang Training Center.
Genny was going to get weapons. And she was going to go back to the fight.
It was just like her. Notch knew she would do that.
Genny burst into the training center, Notch right behind.
Ore, Ash, Jeb, Mace, and Emma were staring at the small television screen, mouths agape in horror.
"Don't just stand there!" Genny exclaimed. "We have to go fight!"
"We...we can't," Ore replied, still glued to the TV. "The...the military is fighting back."
Notch looked at the screen. It was true, the military was fighting the monsters.
But they were losing.
The soldiers fought diligently, with their diamond swords and iron armor. But the thing is, they weren't good enough. Notch knew the six of them were better.
He could tell, these monsters were smarter than normal ones. But how?
"The military is losing," Genny said. "We have to go help! We were the six best sword fighters in New Block City High!"
"These monsters...they seem to be controlled by someone," the news reporter said on screen before anyone could reply. "We don't know who he is, but he has...magical powers."
The camera zoomed in on a figure in the sky. It was hard to see, but Notch could tell it was a guy who looked their age, with a blue shirt and darker blue pants, and brown hair. He seemed normal, except one thing.
He had glowing white eyes.
He was moving his arms, like he was controlling the monsters. He must be.
In a way, it was kind of fascinating. How could he control monsters? Notch had to admit, it would be pretty cool if he could do that.
"Guys."
Everyone looked at Mace.
"Remember what happened a month ago?" he asked.
Notch had almost forgotten about the mining incident. Mace, with glowing white eyes, twitching and saying "He's coming".
Well, he came all right.
"Herobrine," Notch whispered.
"We have to stop him!" Genny yelled. She started throwing on iron armor from the training area.
Ash, Mace, Notch, and Jeb immediately did the same.
As they were putting on their armor, Ore said, "Guys, let's be smart about this. We could die out there. Do you guys want to die?"
"I'd gladly die stopping whatever Herobrine has in store for this city," Genny said determinedly.
Everyone nodded.
Ore sighed and started suiting up. "If we die, don't come crying to me," he grumbled.
They all had iron armor and iron swords. Before they left the building, Mace went over to Emma.
"Stay here," he said.
"No! I can help fight! This is what you've been training me for!" Emma replied.
"Please stay here. I don't want anyone getting hurt because of me," Mace pleaded.
Emma looked like she was gonna protest, but then she nodded. "Don't die," she said.
Mace smiled. "I'll try."
Then Mace, Ore, Jeb, Ash, Notch, and Genny charged out the door.
There weren't any monsters on 2nd Street yet. The battle was all near the middle of the city, one street over.
"To Main Street!" Genny cried. They ran that way.
They made it to Main Street. It was chaos. Monsters were attacking everyone in sight.
And they were slowly getting closer to the Quartz House.
"They might be going for the President!" Ore exclaimed.
"Let's do this," Notch said.
The six of them started fighting off monsters. Notch sliced through a Zombie first. It died instantly. Notch charged towards a Skeleton.
He sliced it in half, then watched his friends. They all sliced and stabbed monsters skillfully, swiftly, like they did it often. They really were the best six sword fighters in the city.
Notch noticed something different about the monsters, besides the fact that they were smarter than normal. Something else was off about them.
A Creeper came towards Notch slowly, and Notch noticed what was different.
All the monsters had glowing red eyes.
