We sat in silence, our eyes laid drowsy as we stared at the film that was coming close to an end. Kareem was slowly drifting asleep, I could tell by the way his head continually dropped on my shoulder, his warm mint breath grazed the side of my neck each time he exhaled. "charls..aren't you tired?" he questioned in a raspy tone before stretching his entire body out. mentally i could run hundreds of laps in half a minute thinking of Sev, and also thinking of this moment I was sharing with Kareem, but physically I could barely function without my head throbbing horribly. "sort of, but I can hang a little longer." i replied to him before twisting my body towards the door so that I could lift myself away from the bed. "you hungry or something?" he asked me curiously with a sly grin showing his nice teeth. "where you going?" i couldn't help but stare at him for a moment, not knowing exactly what to say. "im tense.." i trailed before stretching my arms to the ceiling of the fairly large room. the sensation i felt while stretching my tight body was one of the best feelings I've felt all day. releasing my knees i fell back into place glancing at him. "what?" he asked me quietly, he must've noticed my eyeing. "..you're not slick charls." he smiled at me, goodness. "oh, I just couldn't help myself." i sarcastically added. Kareem's head quickly snapped toward my phone which was vibrating. he picked up up glancing at it before looking my way. "it's Jamie." his face contorted with confusion, he glanced back at my phone squinting his eyes a bit. putting my knee at the edge of the bed i ripped the phone from his hands opening, and reading the message:

"Charlie! Sev's at the county jail! idk what to do!"

my eyes lit up, and my heart began to pound through my chest. How the hell could sev be in jail? "Kareem! i have to go right now! sev's locked up!" his eyes locked my way before he sat up from the his low bed, grabbing his coat, and shoes. frantically i searched the room for my jacket, and boots. this was so sudden I could barely think. "have you seen my keys?" he asked me lifting his bed sheets, and opening drawers. "they may be on the kitchen counter Kareem!remember we walked here!" he glanced at me throwing his jacket on. "alright, find them and wait for me in the car then." i just nodded rushing out of the room scanning the counter tops for the keys, once i found them i sprinted out of the house quickly unlocking the car door slipping myself into the passengers seat. moments later Kareem stepped from the door throwing his hoodie over his head, tagging along his side was kacey. they got into the car, with nothing said his, only motion at the moment was a flick of his hand to receive his keys that i had. through the rearview mirror i could see kacey stuffing his mouth with what seemed to be a cookie while staring deeply at his phone not paying attention to the situation, but who could blame him?

The lights of the cold town beamed through the glass of the car. it felt like an hour later, but we where finally at the county jail. Jamie stood beside the brick pillars cursing at her phone in her thick Spanish accent. even before i stepped foot out of the car her strong voice boomed through the glass. grabbing my phone from the dashboard i began to open the door, but my actions were quickly halted once Kareem's hand latched around my wrist. "..i won't leave until you give me permission." pulling away from his grip i shook my head. "Jamie must be taking me home." running my fingers through my tangled curls. "reem, i think we should stay here for a while.. to make sure she has a ride." kacey suggested from the backseat, i glanced at him to find him already staring back at me with his large brown eyes. sitting here i wasn't getting anything done. "i don't care what you guys do..not trying to be to be frank, but my brother he's locked up!" i finally said before making my way to Jamie, she had such an distressed look on her face. "Charlie, you need to talk to the receptionist, she won't tell me anything about him since we aren't family.." she sighed folding her arms. "have they told you anything at all?" i asked, but she shook her head. "no, not even why they put him in." she then gave me a slip with his name on it, i slipped it in my pocket before opening the doors of the building. the place smelled of dust, and clothing that hadn't been washed in days. approaching the closest desk an tanned skinned woman sat clicking away at the desktop keys that sat in front of her "..excuse me, ma'am." i spoke quietly waiting for her to look my way. she turned glancing my way. "visiting hours are nearly over-" "no ma'am, my brother was locked up earlier, and i have no clue what he's done!" i ran my fingers through my hair frustratedly. "name?" she responded. "-Severy Harrington." she then looked away from me putting her attention back to the computer, moments later she handed me a small piece of paper. "you have 5 minutes, he's in the holding area go to the officer on the right, and he will direct you there." nodding i walked into the officers direction handing the paper, and while walking down the hall. it was silent as i expected still wondering what he could've done. moments later i heard small talk in a little cell, the officer instructed me to stay back, but it was hard once i made eye contact with Sev. All i could do inhale deeply. the officer handcuffed him, and took him into a small room, after he motioned his hands for me to step inside of the same room. "remember five minutes." after that he stepped out of the room leaving us alone. "Charls this isn't something you should be worrying about.." he spoke not even looking in my eyes. "then who else is going to worry about it Sev? not momma, so who?" he looked at the cuffs that were tightly restraining him not answering me. "Sev, what the hell did you do?!" i screamed at him, fighting tears. "..d-drug related charges, but Charlie you should know me better I never use drugs!" my face contorted with confusion, "then why are you here Sev? i can't provide for myself!" i spoke honestly, "im selling, but im not using! they caught me, it's the only way to make it by! it was only temporary!" he said. It was evident that he was hurt. "sev..what are we gonna do?! how long will you be here?" he shook he head at me. "they said I would be here thirty days at the most since it was my first offense." i rubbed my temple. "this is some bullshit, Sev you took an L for this." i shook my head pushing the chair from under the table. the officer handed me another slip to hand to the receptionist at the desk. once that was over i stepped out the building the wind had picked up some. "hey!" i turned to find the voice, Kacey was sprinting my way. "Kareem said he would be back in like five minutes, he was convinced Jamie was picking you up." he chuckled, unfortunately i wasn't in the mood. "what did they say about your brother?" he then asked seriously. my arms naturally folded, "he would be here for thirty days since it was his first offense, but honestly I'm afraid that it may be bigger than that." from the corner of my eye i could see him shaking his head. "what's he in for?" "I'd rather not say." my body began trembling from the cold air, "you cold?"   he asked me before pulling his hoodie over his head, handing it to me. I looked up at him startled at his gentleman gestures. "kacey, it's freezing. keep your own jacket." i said looking forward. "I'm warm blooded shorty," he joked glancing at me "-you need help getting it on or something?" he asked taking it from me. "raise your arms." i listened to him while he put the hoodie over my head, pulling it down. "now you look warm." he chuckled. "thanks for trying to put some humor into this situation." i smiled. "no problem kiddo." he put his hand on my shoulder.

We sat there a little longer before Kareem pulled up. I made my way to the car hurriedly opening the door. once we were both in he pulled away. No one spoke for half the ride home. "So charls, where am I taking you? home or my house?" he finally spoke. "home, Jamie may be there." he sighed before turning the music up. After turning a few more blocks, and corner we ended up at my house just as I expected Jamie's car was parked in the little driveway. i gathered my things and opened the car door. "thanks for spending some time with me today." i smiled. "anytime Charlie." Kareem grinned at me. "goodnight Charlie." Kacey said from the back looking down at his phone. smiling at the both of them I stepped away from the car, and made my way up the porches steps hearing the engine of the car rev up, and the tires speed off let me know that they were gone, and it was me a Jamie here.

it took me forever just to update, and I'm sorry for all the errors, and uncapitalized words I'm going through, and fixing them later after comments, and votes.

but,
