Chosen

Chapter 4

Reanee woke up on a cot that was next to another cot that Jacob was sleeping on. It was near dawn and she was on a spaceship. She found herself curios, so she changed clothes and put her dirty clothes in a bag within her suitcase. She shook Jacob and jumped back when he came up swinging.

Reanee smiled as she said, "I am ready to learn."

Jacob stated at her as he focused. Once focused, he nodded. He got dressed in the bathroom.

"Come," Jacob ordered as he lead her away from the room.

Once they entered a gym, he led her to the mats.

"Your small so you will have to remember to use your opponents strength against them and always keep aware of everything around you," Jacob informed.

Reanee nodded. He was soon pushing and instructing her through exercise fighting motions. She actually found herself humming softly as she went through the motions. He frowned at her, but she ignored it. The humming helped her to focus and relax.

Later, "Hey, Jacob you gonna teach her or watch her dance!" a dragon rumbled.

Reanee froze and Jacob sighed roughly. Reanee recognized the dragon's presence. This was a shifter which meant that Jacob was a dragon shifter as well. Now that she had made that connection, she knew she would no be able to sense dragon shifters.

"Your interrupting," Jacob scolded.

The dragon shrugged, then shifted into a dressed man.

"I need a fight. I want to fight her or I will band the both of you from the gym on the rest of this voyage," the man threatened.

Reanee frowned.

"She is not ready," Jacob protested, even as the man joined them on the mat.

Reanee stepped back even though she realized she was going to have to fight. Jacob realized the same as well.

"Do your best. Stay Aware. Learn," Jacob ordered as he stepped of the mats, reluctantly.

The man through a punch and she tried to sidestep it. It hit her shoulder and she stumbled back. The man advanced and she dodged the best she could. She still got hit but not as hard as he meant them to be and she avoided getting hit in the face.

Suddenly a kid ran into the middle of the fight. Reanee ducked while grabbing the kid and grabbed the man's legs. He fell as she staggered up and backwards with the child. Silence.

"Good Job!"
"My Baby!"
"Thank Goodness!"

Jacob led her off the mats as the mother grabbed the child while scolding it. The man got to his feet and joined them.
