The twenty-four tributes, all waiting in their separate districts, sit inside their respective City Halls. Most don't have any family to say goodbye to, proving this farewell time to be rather pointless.
Breach perks up as her mom and dad slip into the room. Her father, covered in red fur, engulfs her in a furry hug as soon as he's shut the door.
"Oh honey," he mumbles, stroking her violet ears lovingly.
Her mother, a blue-furred rabbit, smiles weakly and inches closer. She sits down next to her daughter as her father pulls away.
"We're very proud of your decision," her mother murmurs, placing one paw on her daughter's.
Breach smiles a little, glad that she made them proud. Her father nods, ruffling her ears.
"After all, what's the point of all that training if it was never put to good use?" he teases, poking her stomach and making her fluffy tail wag.
"Dad..." she whines.
"Just teasing, honey bunny."
The violet-furred rabbit looks to her parents as her face settles with an air of determination. "I'll win for you guys. I promise."
"We'll be ready to welcome you home," her mother says.
They hug once more just as a Peacekeeper enters and takes them away. Breach peeks outside after a few seconds, coming face to face with a bright blue iris.
She squeaks in surprise, hearing Kayla chuckle behind the wood. She gets back up, her purple eyes narrowed as she opens the door.
"What gives?" she snaps.
Kayla flashes a fanged smile. "Just wandering. Not like I've got family to say goodbye to."
Breach doesn't drop her frown. The dragon puffs a ball of smoke into the rabbit's face, spinning around and flapping her wings once.
"See you on the train!" she calls cheerily.
Breach only scowls and wiggles her nose a little.

Scarlet looks up from her chair as the door to her room opens. A Peacekeeper allows Raphael entrance, and he forces a smile at the guard before the door closes.
"Raph!" Scarlet says, dashing forwards and engulfing her brother in a tight hug.
"Hey Scar," he murmurs, breathing deeply as he enjoys the comfort of her embrace.
She pulls away, her smile falling as she crosses her arms. "Why would you volunteer?"
He sighs, crossing his muscular arms over his plastron. "I would've volunteered for you-"
"Why would you volunteer at all?!" she repeats, her big brown eyes growing moist.
His gaze softens as he pulls her into another hug, stroking her hair. "I froze, okay? At least...at least if I had volunteered for you, I'd be able to win and come back."
"Now we're both gonna die."
"No, we aren't." His electric green eyes seem to snap with determination for a second. "I'm going to protect you till the very end, little sister."
She pulls away, looking up at him with a slightly hurt expression. "What? You think I can't protect myself?"
He doesn't answer, not wanting to tell her that she's spot on. He doesn't think she has what it takes to survive the entire games, much less kill anyone.
I mean, she faints at the sight of too much blood, he thinks.
"Raph?"
He sighs once more. "Yeah, I'm scared for you. You're smaller than the others, you're so nice that-"
