Casey Jones always told himself that crying was weak. He always kept them back, not wanting to look vulnerable to anyone. He wanted to be the strong older brother for his sister, the good son for his father. Crying wasn't something he let himself do often, if at all.
But Destiny...he cried for her. He cried, he let himself lose it and release all his hurt and anger. Everything he had kept back, his hatred for the Capitol, his hatred for the Games, everything was released in one drawn out crying session.
He regretted not spending more time with her and Leonardo. They were always nice to him, and yet he didn't fully appreciate their friendship until it was gone. Both of them in one foul sweep.
The Victory Tour was painful at best. Somehow, Yoshi convinced the officials to let Casey do what Destiny had asked of him. They softened upon hearing that it was her dying wish.
Each District was harder and harder to deal with. Casey read Destiny's words to the best of his abilities, shocked by what she had to say. She never said a rude word, never spoke negatively. Every one of the tributes had something to be said, certain sentences popping out more than anything.
Kayla, Destiny wrote, was a strong flyer and a strong fighter. I wish her and I could've gone for another flight, maybe raced. I would've liked to see who was faster.
Breach crushed the stereotypes; that bunnies or girls can't be tough. She did what she felt she had to, and I hope she's happy wherever she is.
Raphael was strong. I saw a lot of myself in him. I will forever admire his dedication towards his family. You may have been tough on the outside, but I know that you had a good heart.
Scarlet was innocent. She was too young to be put in the Games the way she was. Rest in peace, little angel.
Sarina was intelligent, confident. She had the traits I wish I could have, if I weren't so stupidly stubborn. I loved hearing her talk, every word passionate and thought out.
Hazel, my green-eyed buddy. Your eyes were never strange to me, girl. In fact, you made me feel a little better about sticking out from the crowd.
Shelby...oh Shelby. I wish we had more time. I would've loved to get to know you. Wolves have to stick with their pack, right?
Tyler, though I never got to talk to you much, you always seemed to be smiling. Positivity is a great thing in the Games. Thank you for that.
Donatello, you're far more clever than anyone really knew. You knew how to pair brain and brawn perfectly, and...well, I hope Raphael's mask is still tied around your spear.
Yukiji...we never really talked, but you were strong too. I hope that you found peace, and I hope that everything is better for you now.
Kaitlin, I know that you're watching over your sisters right now. They'll carry on your legacy of perseverance, I just know it.
Taylor, you hothead, I'm sorry the Games had to be our meeting place. You were relaxed, yet never lost sight of what the Games really were. Godspeed.
Leonardo...my sweet Leonardo. There's no words I can say that would do him justice. Rest in peace, my love. I'll be with you soon.
