"Adnan, shut it off... Adnan, oh my gosh. Would you just turn the god damn thing off!" I snapped.
When I looked to my left, Adnan wasn't even there. I reached over to the night side tables and slammed the alarm clock off.
Around this time, it's been getting harder for me. I never knew it was this difficult to carry twins. On top of my struggle with getting around, my emotions are all over the place and I either snap or cry and the most unexpected times. I'd give Adnan an applause for putting up with me.
Today was Scotia's first day at school. The uniform we preordered had come in and was neatly folded on the desk in her room.
I pulled myself up and slowly walked over to grab her school uniform. Scotia wasn't in her room and I was starting to catch the smell of something good. I assumed Adnan had already woken her up and taken her downstairs to take some of the pressure off me.
I'm one hand, I held Scotia's uniform and in he other, I tightly clutched onto the railing as I began my way down stairs. I had to be cautious and go slower, taking my time, because I wanted to avoid falling.
Then, Adnan rushed up the stairs, "Scarlett, what are you doing?! Don't hurt yourself, please."
He took the uniform out from where I had tucked it under my arm and put his arm around me for support. I leaned on Adnan as he safely guided me downstairs.
"Thank you."
"I love you," he bowed his head and touched my lips with his.
"Mummy!" Scotia came running in, "School today?"
"That's right!"She cheered and ran back to the table to finish drinking her glass of orange juice.
I soon followed her into the kitchen and saw that Adnan had cooked a full breakfast for the three- well five of us. We were all one big happy family.
Adnan has picked up around the house and with Scotia when it became harder for me to get around on my own. I couldn't do much around the house and it only became worse as my due date came closer.
"Thanks again, Adnan," I smiled sitting down in a chair.
"No, thank you, my love. For giving me three beautiful children."
"Not quite yet," I laughed.
"Soon enough."
"Can you make sure that Scotia gets dressed and has all her stuff for school?"
"Uh- yeah of course, where's her bag though?"
"Just right near the door," I pointed.
He spotted it, "Ah, I see. It's all good."He left to go get our daughter ready for her school day. I stayed seated at the table and enjoyed the wonderful breakfast Adnan had so lovingly put together for us. He was so caring and I was thankful for such a great husband.
"Be back soon," Adnan kissed my cheek.
"Alright, come give me a hug."Scotia ran up and beat Adnan to it.
"Awh, I'll miss you, but you're going to have to much fun and meet so many new friends!"
"No!"I picked her up and say he down on the chair in front of me. I struggled a bit and Adnan almost stepped in, but I gave him a reassuring look that I could do it fine.
"Why not? You're going to be late."
"Because I don't want new friends."
"Scotia, the kids there will love you and you'll love them. It's going to be so fun, please go to school."
"But I don't want any new friends!"
"Scotia... You don't have any friends," it hurt saying that to my little girl, but she really had to get out there and talk to other kids her age, "Maybe Hannah, but she's so little..." My voice faded.Hannah Herrara was the daughter of Rylee and Ander. She was born a few months earlier and Scotia tagged along with us often when we went to visit them. She'd be the same age as my twins.
"No, I'm not talking about her, mummy. I'm talking about you and daddy. I still want to be friends with you."
My heart basically melted at her words and Adnan covered his mouth with his hand.
"Scotia, honey, we're always going to be friends."
"Really?" Her eyes lit up.
"I love oh so much," I hugged her tightly and kissed her small forehead.
She ran over to Adnan and took his hand, "Are we friends?"
"Of course."She gasped and the biggest smile spread across her face.
"Time for school!"
Adnan scooped her up in his arms, taking her bag on the way out. I smiled at them and waved goodbye.
"Hey, Scarlett, we'll talk about the house when we get back."
Right... Discussing if this house is big enough to hold the five of us.
