"Who's that hunk of meat standing outside our school?"
"Woah! He looks like Greek sculpture! He looks so hot!?"
"I wonder if he's single?"
You frown with a confused look as the crowd of girls outside was building more quickly than usual. It wasn't strange for girls to be admiring the guys, but they didn't really take it to this extent. You decide that it's none of your business as you remind yourself that you already have a boyfriend. After changing your indoor shoes to your sneakers, you head out and see Chris standing with his hands in his pockets casually. Seriously? He looked like he just came out of a male model magazine. You couldn't help but wonder how on earth he looked so sexy without even trying at all.
You had met Chris at one of Seido's baseball matches. He had always caught your eye from the very start. It wasn't just because he was just insanely good-looking, it was also the way he played baseball that made you realise how much of a great man he was. He had the leadership and strategy of a great catcher, and that side of him began to grow on you. After your embarrassing confession to him on the way to practice, he had accepted your feelings and you two had been together ever since.
You were extremely worried when you found out that he had injured himself badly. You were almost overwhelmed with guilt as you should have said something to the team when you noticed the way he winced when you tried to use his sensitive arm. However, he had made you promise to keep it to yourself, and being the person to avoid breaking his trust, you had kept silent until it was probably too late. You force yourself to shake off the nagging feeling of self-condemnation as you approach your him.
"Ready to go?" He hums softly as he gives you one of his amazing smiles that never fail to leave your heart fluttering with warmth.
"Yeah. Let's hurry so we can grab a bite afterwards." You answer softly as you avoid his tender gaze before climbing into the front passenger seat of his car.
"Is something bothering you?" He asks carefully as he keeps his eyes on the road ahead of him.
"Not really." You reply dismissively as you turn your head to watch the scenery flash by.
"You can talk to me about anything (Your Name). You know that. Tell me, what's going on?" He reassures you like he always did, and you ended up resigning and look down at your fingers before opening your mouth gingerly.
"I just...maybe if I had informed the team earlier about your injury, we wouldn't be heading to rehabilitation right now." you whisper the words that were almost barely audible to Chris.
Chris hears your usual cheerful tone morph into a regretful one, and he immediately pulls over. You are startled by his sudden decision, before you can even demand what was going on, he pulls your neck in and closes his eyes as his lips search for yours. Your own eyes flutter shut as he cradles your cheeks with his large and supportive hands. When he finally pulls away reluctantly, he tilts your chin up before running his thumb along the apple of your cheeks.
"It wasn't your fault, and never has been your fault. I should NEVER have hid my injury. I betrayed my team's trust and ended up hurting them by hurting myself. As my teammates were turning their backs on me in frustration and anger, you were the only one that stayed by my side this whole time. You don't know how many times the thought of appreciation for you crosses my mind, so don't even think that." His assertive tone rings in your ears and before you even know it, relieved tears begin to stream down your cheeks.
Chris watches as you try to wipe away the continuous river of teardrops stain your cheeks. He doesn't say anything, but hands you his handkerchief before petting your head fondly as if he were comforting a crying child. He was always there for you, and you were ever so grateful to be in love with such a strong soul. As you sniffle in silence, you see Chris extend one arm while his other remains on the steering wheel. You turn your head to see him offering you a piece of chocolate. You almost forgot...he was absolutely in love with chocolate.
"You seemed to need some cheering up. Do you want one?"
