He kisses her.

She got her first New Year's kiss......with real fireworks.
Behind themm they were screaming Happy New Year and admiring the bursts of colour in the sky. However Luke's eyes were completely focused on Alex. Her hand had slipped into her pocket and before she could regret it she showed him. His eyes traveled to her hands. They settled on what she was gripping with dear life.
The home pregnancy test......the positive home pregnancy test.

Luke's eyes glazed over. His entire mood shifted, at first Alex was scared but the smile on his face told her everything is going to be ok. He lifted her up and held her tight.
"Please tell me this isn't a joke"
She looked him dead in the eyes and said "this is not a joke"
Luke's eyes widened as if it has just sunk in. Quickly he lowered her and began to panic
"Oh no, am I hurting you? Di-did I hurt the baby? I-I didn't mean to, oh m-"
She couldn't help but laugh at his nervousness as he placed her on the floor and checked her over. Alex cupped his face before calming him down.
"I'm ok. We're ok. I promise."
Luke's hands haven't left her stomach. His voice low, looking at her stomach he murmured "so there's an actual baby in there, my baby."
He looked into her eyes again "our baby"

His smile never faltered and his hands never left her. Alex caught his eyes constantly shifting to her belly, almost as though he's making sure the baby doesn't disappear.

"Hey love birds?"
Alex turned around so she was facing Aaron, Bonnie and Zach but Luke showed no sign of letting her go. She leaned into his hold as she listened to them.
"HAPPY NEW YEAR"
They almost deafened her. Alex winced. Shutting her eyes tightly she buried her head in Luke's chest.
His growl was vicious.
His growl was raw.
His growl was deadly.
They stumbled back and submitted. She removed herself from Luke's chest and hit his hand.

"Oi, lighten up they didn't mean it you prick." He just huffed and nuzzled into her neck.
"If you thought I was protective before, you have no idea what you're in for. I am now protecting my mate, my luna, my fiancé, the mother of my child and my baby. You are never leaving my side. Ever."
Unconsciously his hand rested on her stomach as he repeated 'ever'.

"I-is it safe?"
Alex chuckled and nodded at Zach.
"Okay good. Jesus I just nearly shit a brick. Time to make our new years resolutions."
She rolled her eyes.
"Hey missy just do it."
Like a mature adult Alex stuck her tongue out at Zach before closing her eyes.

Thinking over this past year she remembered everything. The emotions washed over her like a tsunami. The horror of being on tour, the pain when she woke up in the hospital, the loss of her friends and comrades.........The love she has for Luke. Alex was forced to come face to face with something she fears most. Her emotions.
It's safe to say she's not the same girl she was when she arrived in America but Alex doesn't want to be that girl again. She didn't lose herself but she has grown. She has learnt how to love and the true meaning of family.

At first she struggles to think of a new years resolution but after reviewing her life with the pack and recent events she realises she knows exactly what needs improving in her life.

With her eyes shut tightly she makes a promise. A promise that even though she may not be perfect she will try. She will love and protect her baby like she has the pack. This is her second chance, a chance at a normal life and she won't mess it up. It's not just her life that is now in her hands. Alex is finally going to have the family that she felt she missed out on as a child.

Alex placed her hands over Luke's as he moved them in a circular motion. Soothing the nauseous feeling.
In a low voice she whispers "I promise".
