I like stories to immediately start off with characters describing themselves. That's usually how I love to start my material off, and I like to read stories like that. Only once in a blue moon I start off with dialogue or something, but other than that, descriptions make it a lot more easier to write. But you're supposed to do what makes you feel comfortable.
