In 1938 in Germany

the big thing making the news

was the starting of a pogrom,

violent riots against the Jews.

They had shop windows broken,

Synagogues burnt,lives lost,

that's why this day is a symbol

of the beginning of the Holocaust.

So let's rid our world of hate

and make peace our lasting aim,

enjoy life and live in harmony,

we must teach our children the same.

On the night of November 9th 1938 and continuing into the next day a wave of pogroms against Jews swept across Germany and into Austria, during that time at least 91 people were murdered, hundreds of synagogues and thousands of Jewish properties were destroyed. At least 30,000 Jews were arrested and sent to concentration camps, this night is understood to be the start of the Holocaust that in total took the lives of 6 million Jews. Today is to remember all those that suffered in those dark days for mankind and to make sure our world never experiences such atrocities again. Today we still have racist issues in our world, won't we ever learn.
