Today is World Toilet Day,
to raise awareness about sanitation,
the countries with the highest under five's deaths,
are those that have open defecation.
Besides increasing the risk of disease and malnutrition,
for women there is a danger of abuse or rape,
because they have nowhere to go for privacy,
and these conditions they can't escape.
World Toilet Day is to make people aware of the fact that 2.4 billion people do not have adequate sanitation, out of these 1 billion still defecate in the open, this can lead to a greater risk of disease and malnutrition. Women and girls are vulnerable to abuse and rape because no toilet means no privacy. The "Sanitation for All" Resolution A/RES/67/291 was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in July 2013 designating November 19th as World Toilet Day. Everyone has a right to clean water and sanitation.
