Violence against women,
a human rights violation,
it is so deplorable
yet it happens in every nation.
We have women sold as sex slaves,
more disgusting young girls too,
imprison the scum who do this,
it's time they suffered too.
Then we have men who hit women,
cowards using fists think it's fun,
some women have to suffer this daily,
they need help,they've nowhere to run.
So now all this has to stop,
give women and girls more protection,
free victims from violence and abuse,
show them some love and affection.
It is a sad fact that as many as one in three women will have been subject to physical or sexual abuse in their lifetime. Today is to make governments, international organisations and the rest of the world aware of violence against women. On November 25th 1960 in the Dominion Republic, three sisters Patria Mercedes Mirabal, Maria Argentina Minerva Mirabal and Antonia Maria Teresa Mirabal were assassinated on the orders of ruler Rafael Truyillo. On December 17th 1999 it was decided that November 25th would be International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Activists on women's rights have always observed this day, the anniversary of the sisters deaths since 1981.
