♔ 33 ♔ Presentation day

enjoy :)

. . .

"Last but not least, we have Ashton Williams here with his presentation. Come on up Mr. Williams." The crowd clapped their hands with smiles on their faces as they welcomed me up on stage. I smiled at the crowd as I pressed the play button. A video of me sitting on a chair popped up. I was holding a camera with a smile on my face.

"On April 19th at approximately 7:34 PM in the state of London, England, a savage little baby boy named Ashton Marc Williams was born."  A picture of me as a newborn popped up onto the screen.

"My mum and dad decided to name me Ashton because of- well my mom's brother. My mom's brother has always been important to her. He died while trying to save her from getting hit by a car."

I scanned the crowd, hoping to see Mrs. Summers. She saw me and smiled brightly as she waved.

"So she named me Ashton. Enough about my baby years. When I was about three, I moved here, to California. I grew up, living a boring life, I practically had no friends." In the video, I chuckled. The audience laughed loudly. "When I was about 9, my mum met this guy, Richard." I scowled in the video. "They got together and got married. I actually kind of liked him, he was a laid back dad. But then when I was 13, he just left us." The crowd went silent. "My mum later found out that piece of butt cheek cheated on her with a random woman from work. She was so heartbroken that she shipped me off to live with my grandfather for a couple of months. She felt that she couldn't take care of me." In the video, I showed a couple of pictures of me with my grandfather. "At first, I didn't like him, but we started hanging out and soon I realized that I liked him. I stayed with him for about 6 months. Then out of nowhere, my mum decides to take me back to California. I hated her for it, because I was really enjoying my time with my grandfather. His name was Cedric, by the way. Anyway," I sighed in the video. "When I got back, I found out that my mum was back together with Richard. I called my grandpa and told him about it, and he actually flew down to Cali to talk to my dad. I don't know what gave him the idea to that."

The crowd laughed. I found myself smiling at them.

"My grandfather had really bad heart conditions. So when he started talking to Richard about the get - together between him and my mum, Richard took it the wrong way. And what did he do? He punched my grandpa. And he kept punching him. Soon enough, he was in the hospital, in a coma." The crowd got silent. So silent, that I didn't even here a single movement- or better yet, a cricket.

"I was 15 when I started getting all suicidal and depressed. My grandfather was the best thing that ever happened to me, until Richard took him away from me. He died when I turned 15." In the video, you could tell that I was crying. "But when school started, I bumped into this girl in the hallway. Lets say that she changed my life." I scanned the audience again and saw Mrs. Summers tearing up. "Her name is Kyra Summers. She's such a bright, smart, funny, and beautiful girl. She changed my life, changing me from depressed to the happiest kid on earth. We became best friends in an instant, we just clicked. We were inseparable." A video of Kyra and I laughing popped up onto the screen. A couple of more videos and picture showed after that. "Then one day, my world gets crushed. We start seeing strange signs. Like her not being able to swallow anything, or losing hair, or getting fevers. I asked her about it, and she said she didn't know what was up. So we went to the hospital, and we got told that she had been diagnosed with cancer."

At this point, the whole audience was in shock, some were even crying.

"But I didn't let that get to me. Instead of allowing her get all depressed, I came up with an idea. a bucket list. She was so happy when it cane to that list. She completed almost everything off of it: she had to meet a celebrity, go on a motorcycle, win a game of laser tag, sing at a public place, become an over night sensation, and a lot more things." I chuckled in the video. "She looked so happy when she found out that she'd became an overnight sensation when we sang karaoke." The crowd smiled. "Anyway, there was one thing on the bucket list that she wasn't able to complete." A breath hitched in my throat. "The last thing on her bucket list was supposed to be 'graduate.' But she isn't here today, because she is still in the hospital. She's been in a coma for the past 25 days, almost a month."
Pictures of me sitting with Kyra in her hospital room popped up. "So right after this presentation, I'm going to visit her and give her her certificate." I smiled at the screen in front of me. "Kyra Summers changed my life, and I'm praying that she'll still be in it until the day I die. Thank you." The crowd broke into cheers, and cries, and claps. I stood up and walked up to the microphone as they continued to clap. One person stood up, then the next, then the next thing I knew, I was getting a standing ovation. Every one had smiles on their faces as they cried their hearts out. As the claps and screams died out, I grabbed the microphone and held it tightly in my hand.
