boring?

In mystery/thriller sometimes the plot can be quite slow. Especially if your writing a detective novel because a lot of the time, your character is trying to solve the case.

To avoid losing readers, make your chapters interesting by having small events occur in them. Rather than having your character just sitting at his/her desk reading a letter and trying to decode it, have them have a flashback or maybe someone could enter the room.

Dialogue can make a chapter more interesting, even if the character is talking to them self.

Each chapter must lead the plot somewhere and if that doesn't happen then maybe reevaluate your chapter plan. Wait do you have a chapter plan? That is most important thing you can do with this genre- you need to know the resolution to your own problem. Don't just think of a mystery and not know how to solve it.

I suggest if you are bored with your own chapters then you can assume that everyone else is bored as well. If your chapters excite you- they will excite everyone else!
