Chapter 12

"Well, if it isn't my favorite grumpy little Rixton!" I chirped, smirking as I saw Rixton standing about six feet away from me, a scowl present on his pale face, his dark obsidian eyes full of scorn.

Ah, same old Rixton I bumped into, I see.

He was dressed in all black. Black skinny jeans, a black shirt with a skull on it, and a black jacket which he left unzipped. His hair was messy, but in a... good way. He glared at me, but instead of scurrying away like some people would do, I smiled brightly and danced towards him.

"What's with the sad face?" I asked him cheerfully. Why was I suddenly so happy under his presence?

Stop thinking, brain.

I instead waited expectantly for Rixton's answer.

He was silent for a few seconds, staring blankly ahead, until I waved my hand in front of his face.

"Hello? Earth to Rixton!"

Rixton sighed and finally snapped his gaze onto me, cold and unforgiving. "What?!" he snapped impatiently.

"No need to get snappy, Rixton," I said, letting out a few tsk, tsk, tsks.

Rixton stuffed his pale hands into his pockets. "Well get used to it," he muttered. "Oh, darling, I already am!" I said, attempting to throw an arm around his shoulders but having to stretch up onto the tips of my toes to do it.

What can I say, I'm not very shy around people. Especially Rixton. He intrigued me, and made me want to pinch his cute pale little cheeks.

Wait.... WHAT?!

Am I insane? What?! What... just... I did not say that.

Nope.

Nope, no, no, nope, no, no, no, no, no, no in the name of a random guy called Joe!

Sorry, Joe.

But no! No. I did not say I wanted to... pinch Rixton's 'cute pale little cheeks'.

Darn it I said it again!

Gah!

Bad brain!

Why must you be so crazy?!

You know you love me.

Shut up brain!

I can't... I'm your brain. Your conscience.

Brains aren't supposed to talk!

Yeah, well, your brain isn't normal, so... I can talk. Who do you think gave you all those ideas for drawings and which books to read? Uh, me. Your amazing brain, duh.

What. The. Heck.

I don't know... what the heck is heck?

I don't know! It's a curse word that is technically not a curse word!

Um....

Stop talking!

Okay.... crabby much? What happened to that good attitude towards Rixton? Oh, and you still have your arm around him, you know.

What? I'm not crabby! And my good attitude isn't just towards Rixton! Wait.... I STILL HAVE MY ARM AROUND HIM?!

I quickly snapped to my senses, and luckily it seemed my little mental dispute with my brain only lasted for about four seconds, because Rixton was staring down at me with a look of repulsion in his black gaze.

Did I mention I'm 5'2 and he's like 6'1? Yeah... he's tall. Like, tall tall.

Like, Hagrid-sized tall.

And that's tall.

"Get. Your. Arm. Off. Me," Rixton said slowly, putting emphasis into each word.

"Hmm..... maybe... no?" I said, the words slipping from my mouth before I could stop them.

Crazy! Oh, gods, I can't... brain what the heck?! Why? Ahh! He's going to think I'm insane! Well, more than I already am....

I'm acting like a clingy creep! I'm not even his acquaintance; just a random girl he met off the street! Uh, sidewalk and bookstore!

I'm crazy! Cr-a-zy. Crazy. Crazy!

I know.

Shut up, brain!

Fine.

Rixton sighed and easily shrugged off my arm, and it fell, hanging limply at my side.

I frowned. "That's not how friends treat other friends, is it?" I asked him scornfully.

"Um, we're not friends," Rixton said flatly.

"We are."

"Are not."

"Are too."

"Are not."

"Too."

"Not."

"Too!"

"Not!"

"Too!"

"Not!"

"Too!"

"For the love of all things sane, shut up!" Rixton yelled, his eyes narrowed into black slits at me after our little dispute.

Ha.

You make him flustered.

What are you implying, brain?

Well, don't you think if he didn't like you he would have ditched this bus stop the moment he saw you? Or shrugged your arm off instantly instead of waiting for four seconds? And don't you think he would have just walked away instead of arguing with you?

Face it: some part of him likes your company, I bet.

Since when is my brain this arrogant?

"I can't shut up, Rixton. It's not in my rule book," I told him matter-of-factly.

"Then I'll nail it shut!" Rixton hissed, his bangs brushing above his eyes as he glowered down at me.

I felt my stomach convulse, as if soft wings were stroking it.

Am I sick?

No... your nervous. Remember feeling like this when you had to tell Suz and Ty that you were moving? You were nervous. And you feel nervous now. I wonder why...

Shut up, brain.

I can't. It's not in my rule book.

I hate my brain.

(A/N: I love Ariana's brain!

Ariana: Seriously?

Ariana's Brain: Why, thank you.

Me: Yes, and your welcome :3

I'm weird :D
