she didn't know what to think as she looked at the paper in her hand.  english was the only class she did well in. but it didn't mean she didn't struggle sometimes. it wasn't always easy.

B+

she was smiling from ear to her as soon as she saw the grade. but it was quickly gone.

"how could you get a better grade than me?" someone asked.

"you probably cheated didn't you?"

"aren't you like dumb?" another person said.

she didn't say anything to them, or even look at them. to them, it seemed as if her words didn't mean anything to her. but their words affected her.

every night she would go home and she would cry. at home was the only time when she was at alone, which meant thinking. thinking about what everyone said about her when they didn't know she was listening.

you looked at her curiously and compared her test with yours. she had done better that you. english wasn't your best subject. you had gotten a C.

"good job," you said.

she looked at you and smiled. it was the nicest thing anyone said to her all day.

"thank you."
