To That Night

TO THAT NIGHT

I often travel back in time,

To that night when we failed to hear the clock chime!

Wrapped up in each other in every way,

I refused to acknowledge that you'd be gone the next day!

I lived for that very night,

The one time we didn't even fight!

Making deals that this was a one-time thing,

I knew you would always mean to me so much more than just a fling!

To keep up the charade you talked of vinyl records,

And I played along, pretending I didn't feel you striking up my chords!

You said we had to be really quiet about this,

And I shut you up with one short kiss!

As I stroked up and down your length

I had to have a feel of your endurance and strength!

Whether you were slow, or if you were fast,

I wanted to see just how long you would last!

My inexperience didn't bother you as you gifted me many firsts,

You held back so I didn't know of your thirsts!

You said you were sorry after your lips crashed against mine,

Because I'd said it was my first, and you made me insane!

After you came, crashing like a waterfall,

You said I was good to go, that I'd ventured beyond my wall!

Whether you'd been truthful

I didn't know, but it felt ecstatic and fruitful!

The next morning I saw you asleep

And I brushed my lips against your forehead,

Taking all my strength not to weep!

Knowing this was the last time I'd ever see you in forever,

This connection between us I wanted not to severe!

When you woke and acted all nonchalant,

I drew it all from my willpower to seem gallant!

I didn't want to seem too invested;

Not when you mercilessly behaved as though

All of last night's emotions you'd completely shed!

I acted as if it were all a dream to me,

That I even thought we weren't meant to be!

As you wrapped your arms around me one last time,

I could hear the clock in the distance frantically chime!

We knew it was time to let go,

To part and return to our lives without much ado!

But I will forever cherish our memory- it's always within reach,

Between our worlds however huge there lies a breach!
