Dec didn't hear his flat-mate come up behind him.

"What are you doing?"
Dec immediately slammed the little notebook he had in his lap shut, looking like Ant just caught him doing something forbidden. His friend let out a small chuckle.

"What's up with you, man?"
"..Nothing.."
The older male stood up and ran up the stairs to his room, to hide his little, precious book.
He quickly came back down again, innocently smiling at his friend, who was now sitting in the same spot as he did before. He was smiling back, but was still very confused.

"So what's in that special book of yours? I've never seen you write in it before."
"Nothing special...just...stuff.."
"What's with the secrets?"
His best friend asked again, with a giant grin on his face.

"Where are you hiding it?"
"I'm not telling ye, man!"
"What have you been writing in there? It looked like poems or something."
"Not. Going. To. Tell. You."
Dec said, crossing his arms in front of his chest, looking the opposite direction of his flat-mate.

"Aw, you're no fun! I'm going to find it, and you know it!"
Ant said, poking his friends side, who jerked away with a blush creeping onto his face.
He couldn't imagine what would happen if his best mate would actually read the stuff that he wrote inside there.

"You got awfully quite there, pal!"
"What? ..No, I'm fine. Nothing's wrong. I'm fine."
Ants smile disappeared and he turned to his Dec, getting concerned.

"Seriously though..are you alright?"
"Yeah.."
Dec tried to answer, his voice almost cracking.
"Did I do something wrong? Did something happen? ...Tell me what's wrong, please.."
"I just...please promise me...that you won't search my room.."
The other one just nodded, squeezing his best friend tight as he slowly started crying.

After a while he could feel that the older one had  fallen asleep in his arms.  He tried to carry him upstairs, which turned out to be quite easy, because of Dec being really light at the time. He felt like he hasn't eaten as much and he was right, apparently.
He carefully placed him in is bed. When he tried to go out of the room, Ant could see his best friends stand up again and take off his shirt and trousers.

"Decks...are you awake?"
But he didn't get an answer. Since when had Dec been sleepwalking?
He saw that Dec had gotten back into bed, but laid down on his blanket, so his, almost naked, best friend was lying on his bed, already starting to shiver.
Ant couldn't help but stare at his friends bare chest a little, before helping him to get underneath his blanket.
Ant took the chair that was standing by Decs desk and put it next to the bed to watch over his life long...well..what was he to him? Just a friend...could they be more or would they break..?
But he shouldn't think about that kind of stuff, it was weird.

Ant must've fallen asleep after a while, because he woke up the next morning, still in the same chair, but his best friend missing and a blanket thrown over him.
He almost started to panic, but after smelling something cooking downstairs he immediately calmed down again...until he remembered it was Dec down in the kitchen, alone...
He quickly made his way down to the kitchen to see his mate, still in his boxers, whistling away as he danced a little bit around, in front of their stove.
Ant watched the scene in front of him a bit, before he cleared his voice rather loudly, so his friend was definitely able to hear him.
And he did, quickly turning around, rather embarrassed.

"I didn't...hear you come downstairs.."
He mumbled, his face turning a deep crimson. Ant couldn't help but chuckle a little bit.

"Turn around, you doofus! You're burning the eggs!"
"Oh right!"
He exclaimed, quickly turning around again trying to grab the pan, which made him burn his hand in the process. A number of weird noises and swear words followed.
Ant hurried over to the stove, turning it off and putting the pan to the side, so he could take care of his friend.
He got out a smaller bandage and burn ointment, before sitting down next to Dec.

"Show us your hand!"
Reluctantly he laid his hand on the table, in front of his worried flatmate.
His friend looked at the quite big burn on the back of his hand.

"I'm gonna put some of this on your hand, alright? ...stay still, it's not gonna hurt.."
"Yeah whatever..!"
The other one said through clenched teeth, still in pain.
He lightly flinched when he felt the cold cream on his burn, but calmed down, thinking of Ant stroking his hand really carefully, not wanting to hurt his...friend. Best friend.

"Okay..I'm gonna go buy some food. You stay here and watch some TV or something. Just don't use your hand."
Ant explained after he wrapped Decs hand in the bandage. The other nodded, moving his hand a bit, trying to adjust the bandage.

As soon as Ant left the flat, Dec got up and took the little notebook out of his room and sat down on the couch again. He had to finish this one, it's been bugging him all morning. Yes, he has been writing poems, but they were all for his special person...his best friend...and his long term crush...so he couldn't let him find these.

-Time skip-

When Ant came home he found a sleeping Dec on the couch with...the notebook..on his chest. Waiting to be looked inside.
Ant tried to take his mind off of the book by throwing away the burnt eggs, cleaning up the pan and putting the food he bought in the fridge...but he couldn't stop himself. He had to look inside.
Ant took the black book and sat down in the kitchen, careful not to wake his Dec.
He read through a few, but one especially caught his eye. It looked like it wasn't finished yet.

>I love you so deeply,
I love you so much,
I love the sound of your voice
And the way that we touch.
I love your warm smile
And your kind, thoughtful way,
The joy that you bring
To my life everyday.
I love you today,<

And that was where it stopped. Ant really wanted to know how it ended, but apparently his crush didn't know the answer to that himself.

"You read them.."
Suddenly a tiny voice echoed through the kitchen and Ants whole body went stiff. He slowly looked up to see this tiny, crumbled man, standing in the doorway.
It broke his heart to see him this scared and sad. His best friend though that he hated him right now. But it was the complete opposite, and knowing he felt the same way made his feelings even stronger.
When he saw that his smaller flatmate was about to start crying, he couldn't help but stand up and wrap Dec into a big hug.

"I love you today, as I have from the start, and I'll love you forever, with all of my heart."
"You found an end...how nice of you."
"No Decky...I love you. I mean it...the end is for you."
Dec tried to wriggle out of the hug, but Ant didn't let him.

"I'm not letting you go, pet."
Dec gave up and fully embraced his Ant.

"I love you so much."
"..To the moon and back."
Dec smiled and looked up at his crush.

"Hey Decky?"
"Yes?"
"Will you be my boyfriend?"
"Yes.."
Was the only thing he got out, somehow completely out of breath.
They locked eyes, both of them smiling with teary eyes. Ant leaned down lightly, pressing a sweet kiss onto his new boyfriends lips.

"Will you read me some more poems?"
"..I'd love to..."
