Change of heart(Denzel Valentine)

Y/N pov

Today is senior day at MSU and as much I hate to say this, I will miss Valentine. Cause when he leaves who is going to argue with me.It is fun plus his girlfriend already hates me so that is a bonus. I got offered to sing the Nation Anthem today so I am nervous.

"I hope we won't have a repeat of freshman year Y/L/N." He smirked pushing me a little

"I hope we don't have a repeat of last year and y'all lose the last game of the season Valentine." I said pushing him back

"We won't trust me princess." He said knowing I hate being called princess

"Look ugly how about we leave each other alone today it is a very important day for the both of us." I said getting irritated

"Deal." he smiled and walked into the arena

Denzel pov

As Y/N was out there singing, you can tell she put all her heart and soul into it. And for once I didn't want to punch her in the face. She was actually really cute out there.

Y/N pov

As the game came to and end, tears fell down my face. It finally hit me that I am graduating. Like it is almost over. All the seniors playing kissed the center of the court before walking off to a standing ovation. As Denzel walked to the bench I saw tears in his eyes and I think he saw mines too cause he gave me a sad smile as he waved to the crowd.

'I am so proud of you' I mouthed to him

'Thank you.' He mouth back

And at that moment I realized I never hated him, I always loved him. Ever since the first day we met freshman year.

As the buzzer went off his girlfriend ran down and hugged him making us break eye contact. He smiled down at her and spun her around. It seemed as if it were in slow motion. I was slowly watching the guy the guy I finally admitted I was in love with loving someone else. Tears started to fall fast and I felt my chest tighten. I pushed past everyone and ran outside for some air.

Denzel pov

I watch Y/N run out the gym in tears.

"I-I got to go." I said pushing my girlfriend off of me

I ran right after Y/N. I don't know why but I need to make sure she is okay. I followed her to this park right around the corner. She was standing under these willow trees that had little fairy lights in them.

"Y/N are you okay?" I asked startling her

"No I am a mess." She cried 

"Talk to me." 

"You wouldn't understand." She shook her head

"Try me." I said stepping closer

"Imagine hating someone for so long only because you hate the fact that they won't love you the way you love them. Imagine seeing the one person you want to spend forever with loving someone else." She cried 

"Y/N." I sighed

"Save it Denzel." She shook her head ready to take off again

As she was speaking I realized that I love Y/N. Me teasing her was the only way I spent so much time with her.

I pulled her arm back pulling her in my chest.

"I love you Y/N. I realize that now." I said

"Well it's to late for that." She sniffled

"I don't want her, I want you. I always have Y/N." I said cupping her face in my hands

"Denzel I-I." She stuttered 

"Y/N please can we give us a shot?" I hope

She nodded before I placed my lips on hers.

We walked back to his dorm with his arm around my waist and he was kissing on myneck and found his soon to be ex-girlfriend waiting for him at his door.

"Denzel what the hell is going on here?" She asked 

"You know what, I think I will call you later." I said giving him a quick kiss and removing myself from Denzel's grip 

"No don't leave baby." He said pulling me back from my waist

"What the hell is going on?" She asked 

"Look Alexis what we had was cool and all, but you know how you always felt how I wasn't there in our relationship?" He started

She nodded with tears in her eyes

"Well that's cause I never loved you all along, I have always been in love with Y/N." He said pecking my lips a few times

"I-I thought y'all h-hated each other?" She yelled

"I guess we had a change of heart." I smiled up at him

"Yeah, I change of heart." He smiled down at me
