Chapter Thirty One:

The sun peering through the widow forces me to peel my eyes open. I squint before rubbing my eyes so my vision will become less blurry.

I smile when I notice I'm buried into Jeydon's bare chest. I can feel his heart beating softly against my ear. His hair is all over his face and his arm is slung over me. He's so cute when he's asleep.

I sit up only to be pulled back into his arms again.

"Don't leave me." He mumbles.

His sleepy voice is literally the sexiest thing I've ever heard in my life.

"I won't." I promise, kissing his cheek.

I really do want to just lay here forever, with him. But of course something always has to interrupt. This time, it's Jeydon's phone. We both let out a groan.

"Who is it?" I ask.

He reaches out and grabs his phone and looks at the caller ID. He looks like he's been expecting this person to call.

"It's my mom."

He brings the phone to his ear. Since the room is so silent I can hear Ashley's voice clearly on the other end.

"Jeydon! Where are you?!" She asks.

He sighs. "I told you, mom. I moved out."

"But where?" She asks, sounding impatient.

"Abby and I both live in an apartment and we're happy and doing fine. Thanks for calling, bye."

And with that, he hangs up the phone. I smile, resting my head back on his chest. But I can't help but wonder if we're being a bit harsh on them.

Now my phone rings causing me to groan even louder than last time.

"If its my mom or your dad just ignore it." Jeydon mutters.

I look at my phone and am surprised to see that it's not my dad. It's Lulu.

"Hello?" I say, sleepily.

"Hey chica! You ready to go?" She asks, excitement in her voice.

"Go where?" I ask groggily.

"Please don't tell me you're still asleep. Abby, it's almost one in the afternoon!"

I look at the time to see that she's right. I can't believe I slept that long.

"So are you ready to go see Santa at the mall?"

Right! I had promised her I'd go yesterday. It's just that so many things have happened since then that I forgot.

"Give me ten minutes." I tell her hopping out of the bed and hanging up the phone.

I'm still naked from last night. I smile at the memory as I grab my bra from the floor and slip it on. I then pull on Jeydon's hoodie, inhaling his scent from it. I stare into the mirror and realize I have a hickey on my neck from last night. Luckily, the hoodie covers it up. He watches me get ready from the bed, his head resting in his hand.

"I made breakfast on the table. Have fun at the mall!" He calls as I grab my purse and run out the door.

"Than-wait, how'd you know I was going to the mall?" I ask curiously.

He swallows. "I, uh, I heard Lulu on the phone."

Why is he acting so suspicious? Or maybe it's just me.

"Oh,okay. Well bye, Jeydon! I love you."

He smiles and cups my face in his hand. He kisses me sweetly. "I love you too."

I walk out the bedroom door, shaking my head with a grin. Jeydon was the sweetest boyfriend ever so it was really dumb of me to think he was acting suspicious. I walk into the kitchen and see a plate with an omelette and hash browns on it. There's also a glass of orange juice next to it. I sit down and eat the breakfast Jeydon made me.

Once I'm finished, I notice a small pile of mail already on the counter. Hmm that's quick considering we only moved here last night.

But most are just coupons or magazines. Actually one page of coupons are already expired. I roll my eyes, tossing it in the trash. But then I realize that there's something else in the trash. An envelope.

I pull the envelope out of the trash and examine it. The address is our parents house but it says the letter is for Jeydon. Then I notice the returning address, causing a pang in my heart. It's from the State of California. Jeydon's dream college.

Should I open it? But the main question was, why did he throw it away? Okay, now I had to read it before my curiosity killed me.

I slowly took out the piece of paper and read it. I'm shocked. I put the paper back into its envelope and toss it back into the trash before Jeydon knows I read it.

He got accepted. So why did he throw it away?

HONK HONK!

I look out the window to see Lulu in her jeep. I quickly hurry out the apartment and into her car.

Lulu goes on and on about what she wants to buy at the mall. But all I can think about is that acceptance letter to California.

"Abby?"

"Huh?" I say, snapping back into reality.

"I asked you what I should get Max for Christmas?"

"Oh, umm maybe a watch or something? I don't know." I say.

That just reminds me that I forgot to get Jeydon a gift for Christmas. I'll just have to get him one today. I feel like such a horrible girlfriend.

"What's wrong?" Lulu asks seriously.

I sigh. "It's just that this morning I saw Jeydon's acceptance letter from State of California. But it was in the trash. What's that supposed to mean?"

She bites her lip and keeps her eyes on the road. "Maybe he'd rather go to NYU?"

"Do you really think he's giving up his dream college for me?" I ask.

She shrugs. "Maybe you should just talk to him. But don't worry about it right now, okay? Right now we're going to have fun at the mall."

I let out a sigh. Even though I really don't want Jeydon to miss out on going to State of California, Lulu's right. I need to stop worrying. We just need to talk, that's all.

Lulu parks in the parking lot and we both get inside the mall and wander around. I find a paint store which catches my attention.

"Ooh, can we go to that store over there? There's a huge line to see Santa, so maybe the line will clear up a little by the time we're done. Anyway, I really want to paint the walls in our apartment since they're all so boring and white."

She smiles. "Sure, let's go."

We walk inside and are immediately greeted by a worker who shows us some sales they have. Since money is low on Jeydon and I right now, I stay in the clearance area.

"Look at this green!" I show Lulu. "Wouldn't this look so good in our living room?"

Before she can answer, her phone rings. It seems like phones keep interrupting a lot of things today,

She looks at the caller ID. "I've got to take this. You go ahead and buy your paints. We can meet up at the Santa line, okay?"

I nod, turning back to the cans of paint. I pick up the green can, which is pretty heavy.

"Need some help there, ma'm?"

I look up to see someone I was not expecting to see. I take a step back, surprised.

"What are you doing here, Jason?!" I furrow my eyebrows. I do not want to be talking to him right now.

He looks as shocked as I am. He holds his hands up in defense. "I had no idea that was you, Abby."

"You didn't answer my question." I narrow my eyes at him. "What are you doing here? Are you like, stalking me?"

He quickly shakes his head. "I've been working here ever since we moved. I thought I told you?"

I roll my eyes and pick up a blue paint can as well for our bedroom. "Whatever, I don't need your help."

I walk to the check out counter and not surprisingly, he follows me there. Can't this guy get a clue?

"Why are you so mad at me?" He asks, pulling out a scanner to check out my items.

"You're really asking me this? You told my parents that Jeydon and I are dating. I thought we were friends."

He scans my items and places them into a bag. "Hey, it was Elizabeth's idea, not mine. Anyway, shouldn't you be thanking me? I kind of did you a favor since now you and Jeydon can live on your own without keeping your relationship."

Was he actually asking me to thank him? Who did he think he was? There's no way he's getting a thank you from me.

"We were fine keeping it a secret!" I nearly scream. "And we're not exactly doing fine. Rent costs a lot of money." I let out a sigh, leaning my elbow on the counter.

"Well how do you know that Jeydon liked keeping your relationship a secret?" He now asks.

This makes me furious. "What do you know about Jeydon?!"

"Sorry, sorry." He mumbles, handing me the bag. "But if rent is expensive, Santa's elf just quit this morning and they're desperate to replace her. They're willing to pay thirty dollars per hour."

I raise an eyebrow. That actually doesn't seem too bad. Rent is one seventy five per week. So if I worked six hours today, I'd have this weeks rent covered. There was no way I was letting Jeydon do all the work. But I can't wait to see his reaction when I tell him about this.

"And why would you want to help me?" I ask, curiously.

He looks at me like I just spoke a different language. "Because we're friends, Abby. If you're mad at me for this, the least I can do is help you out with getting a job. Or here," he stuffs his hand in his pocket and pulls out some money.

I scoff, "I don't want your money."

"Fine!" He says. He opens the cash register and pulls out a few hundreds. "It's not mine, and it should probably last you at least two weeks."

I look around and am shocked no one notices this. Sure, the store is pretty empty since it's not everyday people buy paint but Jason was litetally just handing me this money, not even being discrete.

But I can't accept this money either! It's stealing! I'd rather have Jason's money at this point. But now since I already rejected him, I have too much pride to ask.

"Bye, Jason." I say, grabbing the bag and walking away.

"Wait!" He calls. "You forgot to pay!"

My face burns realizing he's right. I groan turning around and slamming a crumpled ten dollar bill on the counter.

He takes it with a smirk. "It's actually twelve dollars but I'll let you off the hook, friend."

I bite my lip to hold my smile yet it still shows. He smiles in return. I groan, realizing he probably thinks we're cool again. But the truth is I'm just cheap.

I walk out and am glad to see Lulu waiting by the Santa line. I was actually right, the line did clear up.

We wait in line for about ten minutes and get our picture with Santa. Yes, we were the only teenagers that were there but we didn't really care and ignored the looks the parents were giving us.
