SET THE KISS UP —

• what's the scene?
• why is this happening?
• have you set the mood?

CONSIDER THIS —

• are they alone?
• are they around other people? if so, what's the important of the people around them?
• are they standing or sitting?
• are they at an event? the cinema? the library?
• what time of day is it?

HOW TO CLOSE THE DISTANCE —

• slow closing = a soft, passionate or unsteady kiss
fumbling hands, nervousness, shaking, holding each other in a gentle embrace, hands on cheeks
• fast closing = a hard or assertive kiss. a kiss resulting from sexual tension
desperate grabs, needy, hands in hair, hands roaming body extensively

OTHER THINGS TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION —

• sight: write what the character sees if it's from the point of view of the character
sound: background noise, a character's heart beating, ambient noise, soft moans or gasps from the other character or themselves, anything really
smell: could be their perfume or cologne, or their natural scent
touch: the feeling of their skin (as weird as it sounds) e.g soft, rough, tender etc, the feeling of their lips is also another key thing you could include, or their hands
taste: this isn't as easy as it sounds, the taste should fit the mood and/or the character, do they smoke? use chapstick? what did they eat last?

BODY LANGUAGE —

heads: most people tilt their head when they kiss, when characters do not tilt their head it creates awkward bumping foreheads, which could be what you want if you want an awkward first kiss (these are effective for teen kisses).
eyes: are their eyes open or closed? open creates either an awkward or tender kiss, closed creates a passionate or pleasurable or tbh anything kiss.
noses: they tend to get in the way of kissing. no kiss is perfect, noses will always get in the way, even if the characters tilt their heads, noses can still brush the side of their faces, but your characters will probably not notice them (unless they're the type to notice everything) unless they have an awkward kiss
lips: are their lips soft or hard? chapped or smooth? are they a good kisser? what do they taste of? (refer back to taste)
tongues: usually a first kiss won't include tongue and neither do quick kisses
breathing: all characters breathe and will need to when kissing, so how has the kiss affected their breathing?
bodies: their bodies will usually bump and rub and bounce. think about how your characters are responding to the kiss, are they pulling closer or pushing away? are they clenched tight or flowing loosely?
hands and arms: their hands could be floating in the air (for an awkward or surprise kiss), or they could be everywhere on the other character's body at once, possible places to put hands that aren't on the other character's body could be surfaces near the characters, the character's own body, or they could just be in the air, if you're looking for contact, they could be running their fingers through the other character's hair, holding the back of their head or neck to keep them close, rubbing their back (or further down), or just wrapping their arms around the other character
