A/n I tried to upload this last night but there seemed to be an issue with it. Don't know why, sorry for the delay, I'm hoping it will be okay now!
Jenny's POV
Over the next week or so, I disregarded the brown envelope which taunted me each morning I came downstairs for breakfast. I didn't want to sign the papers, I knew I had to. But I didn't want to let the last, over five years go, just by writing my name.
I waked into my office and sat down, looking down at my ring finger. It feels so weird not to be wearing my ring now, I feel like I'm missing a part of me, well, I guess I am because I don't have Niall.
I didn't leave my office most of the day at work, I didn't particularly want to face anyone, I felt a lot like that these days. I prefer to just stay on my own to be tormented by my own thoughts.
After work, Niall text and told me he would drop Bella off later, that the two of them had gone to soft play. When I got home, it was to an empty house, much what I'm getting used to these days, as much as I detest that.
I was sitting sipping on some coffee at the dining room table, on my laptop when the doorbell went. I frowned, who would that be? I was expecting anyone, and certainly not anyone who would ring the doorbell.
I stood up and walked to the front door, it wouldn't be Niall anyways, he wouldn't ring the doorbell anyways. Although, when I opened the door, I was more than surprised with who was facing me. Noah? My old best friend who I haven't seen for God only knows how long.
I stood stupefied for a moment, while he just smiled softly at me.
"Long time no see." He chuckled.
"Y-yeah.." I managed to stutter out, just watching him totally shocked. What on earth is he doing here? "W-what are you doing here?" I stammered, just in shock if I'm being honest.
"I met Marcus one day, he was telling me about how you've been going through a tough time, with your divorce and all, I just wanted to make sure you were okay." He said, I was even more shocked at his response.
Okay, one, why would Marcus tell him about my divorce, that's none of Noah's business. I just really didn't want people knowing, I don't want it to be true myself. And two, how does he even remember who I am? We haven't spoken much since that time I chose Niall over him.. awkward.
"Oh okay, well, uh, do you wanna come in?" I asked, standing back, allowing him to walk into the house. He thanked me quietly and found his way to the living room.
"Nice place, really nice." He smiled back at me as we sat down on the couch.
"Thanks, it was Nialls, but he has his own new place now." I told him and he nodded. I don't even know why I felt the need to tell him that? I could of just said thank you, like a normal person.
"How's the little one?" He asked, picking up one of Arabella's teddies that was sitting on the couch.
"Great actually yeah, she's getting so big already. Time is flying." I smiled softly, picking at my nails.
Noah stayed for a while, the two of us just chatting and catching up with each other, it was really nice actually, like we never stopped talking. I noticed him inching closer and closer to me every so often but I thought nothing of it.
"I have a question." Noah said after a little while as we sipped on our coffee's.
"Yeah, what's that?" I asked, sitting forward and smiling at him.
"Do you remember when we were really really young. We made this promise that if we were both old and single we would date each other?" He questioned. My heart raced.
