A sanctuary among those called friends,
a place far away from the pain
she could never escape.
Yet happiness is fleeting,
a wave in an ocean
never guaranteed to come back.
There is little to prepare for the storms,
even less for a parting of a shore.
As sad as it may be,
this one hope in life
was taken away
almost instantly.
The friend she loved most
had grown distant.
Their meetings had become limited,
their once vibrant flower field dimming.
It is a part of life after all,
to lose a friend.
You'll surely gain others
along the way.
However,
she was precious.
A friend she had hoped to keep
until the very end.
The one who showed her
there was something to hope for,
even if hope
comes with a price to pay.
