Sitting on the floor in the parlor, Hayley holds a thick book in her hands, reading the pages. While Klaus and Rebekah are standing nearby.

'August 1359. I have noticed a minor difference in my siblings. Our bond is straining beneath the pressure of our life as vampires. Each day removes them further from the humanity we once possessed. My sweet sister, Rebekah, has grown quite indifferent to brutality.'

Rebekah is in the courtyard killing the vampires who had attacked Hayley the night before.

'However, the true problem remains in my brother, Niklaus.'

Klaus stands in the front yard, pouring petrol over the dead vampire bodies, while Hayley stands in the front door, her arms crossed under her chest as she watches Klaus flick his lighter, throwing it on the bodies, watching them burn.

'He continues to hide this loneliness within him with cruelty. Still, I continue to cling to the hope that I, as their eldest brother, can lead them down the correct path. A path that is charged with the power of family. For if I fail, our family's legacy will end in darkness.'

Rebekah crosses her arms as she leans against the frame in the door. "I can't believe you disposed of those vampires without me. You know how I love to set things on fire."

"Was I supposed to leave them in the front yard to rot? Besides, they were my responsibility. They attacked my mate, who's pregnant and carrying my child."

"Oh, I am so deeply moved by your newfound sense of fatherly duties towards the werewolf carrying your hybrid bun in her oven."

After pacing outside the doors, Hayley finally enters the room, holding the book in her arms. "The werewolf who would like to know what the plan is."

Klaus shivers a little as he sees her. Damn this girl. "Well, that depends on what plan you mean, love; my plan for global domination, or Rebekah's plan to find love in a cruel, cruel world."

Rebekah offers a snobby smile as she takes a pencil from the desk beside her and throws it towards Klaus's face.

Klaus catches it easily with his fingers before it impales his face.

"The plan to rescue Elijah. You know, the good brother. The one who is now in possession of your mortal enemy after you literally stabbed him in the back."

Klaus's facial expression changes a little at the mention of his brother. "In the front, if we're being specific."

She points between the two siblings. "You two said that you would get him back. So, is there a plan or what?"

"Since you asked so nicely. Firstly, Marcel is not my mortal enemy - he's my friend, albeit one who is unaware that I'm trying to sabotage his hold over the supernatural community of the French Quarter, but a friend nonetheless. And secondly, I daggered Elijah in order to gain Marcel's trust, and other reasons which will be kept a secret for now. If I had known he would place my brother in the hands of a particularly nasty teenage witch, I certainly would have weighed my options a bit differently. And thirdly, sister, please."

She smiles softly at Hayley. "And thirdly, the plan, as you have demanded, is for Niklaus to simply ask Marcel for Elijah back."

"That's...that's not the whole plan, is it?" Her hazel eyes look between the two in utter shock.

"Please, Klaus may be a miserable excuse for a sibling, but there is none more diabolical."

"And that's only Plan A, love. There's always a Plan B."

She gulps, feeling her stomach churn as she holds down her morning sickness. "And what's Plan B?"

Klaus offers her a smirk, as he places his elbows on his knees, folding his hands in front of his chin, still holding the pencil. "War."
