The ride was very quiet. I guess after hearing me and Lincoln argue, no one wanted to be the next one to pop off. From the corner of my eye, I saw Abruzzi shift forward and bend down a bit.
"So, uh, Mr. Mob Boss. Why did you choose that particular seat?" T-bag asked, straightening his back. He seemed to be trying to get something, but I couldn't see what. I looked at Abruzzi and his hand was underneath T-bag's seat, moving around. I frowned, wondering what he was doing.
"Why? Are you worried that I might do something like this?" He yanked out his hand and pressed it against T-bag's skull. It was then that I noticed he was holding a gun. My heart accelerated and I scooted away from him, afraid of what he might do when he was done with T-bag. I heard metal snapping and it sounded like handcuffs.
"What the hell are you doing!?" Michael roared, shaking his hand. I leaned forward and I saw that T-bag had handcuffed Michael's right hand to his left hand. T-bag grinned, but didn't move since Abruzzi had the gun to his head.
"Give me the key!" Abruzzi shouted. T-bag opened his mouth to show the key and both Michael and John tried to grab it, but he snapped his mouth shut and swallowed the key. Michael yelled with frustration and punched the seat in front of him.
"You son of a bitch!"
"I should blow your head off." Abruzzi snarled, pressing the barrel deeper into his head. I felt Tweener try to scoot as far away as possible and I didn't blame him. The look in John's eyes was murderous and foreign. Even though I knew he was a killer, I'd never seen that side of him until tonight.
"Do that and Pretty over here will be dragging 'round a hundred seventy-five pounds of Alabama flesh, and quite frankly, you need his brains to get out of this mess." T-bag countered, chuckling when Abruzzi growled, but pulled the gun away.
"Watch your back, country boy." Abruzzi said quietly, sitting back. I glanced at John and he looked at me, his gaze softening. I think he saw the fear in my eyes and he ruffled my hair. "I'm sorry." he said, only for me to hear. I nodded and relaxed, knowing that he wasn't going to hurt me.
I faced forward and frowned when I saw lights flash ahead. I knew it was the law enforcement immediately. The other guys had their heads down, so they didn't notice.
"Uhh, Linc, heads up." I said, getting the attention of Michael. He cursed under his breath and Lincoln stopped the van, the others raising their heads to see what was going on.
"Oh fuck. We gotta go." C-note said, patting the seat in front of him. I could see the police walking around, stopping the vehicles that drove towards the roadblock. If we drove there, we were done for.
"Can't we just turn around?" Tweener asked, fear laced in his voice. Michael shook his head, frowning deeply.
"That will only take us farther from where we need to go." he said.
"Then what do we do?" Lincoln asked, turning to face Michael. We accidentally made eye contact and he looked away quickly.
"We have to go around." Michael answered. Lincoln took the van out of park and turned on the muddy path to our left. It was bumpy and I had to hold onto the seat in front of me so that I wouldn't fly through the window. I could hear sirens and I silently chanted for Lincoln to drive faster.
Suddenly, the van jerked to a stop and I flew up, hitting my head on the roof. Some guys did the same and some hit their heads on the windows. We all groaned in pain and I rubbed my head, opening my eyes.
"What the hell just happened?" Tweener asked, rubbing his forehead where he hit it on the window he was looking out of. Lincoln hopped out, along with Abruzzi, C-note, and Sucre. I looked out the window and saw them looking at the wheel. I slid out and walked over to them, wondering what was going on.
