Asking me questions.
Responding to my answers.
She's smiling.
A real smile.
She's trying....
To make me smile back.
"I was once like you."
"What?"
How could someone that happy have a past like me?
"I was once unhappy and lonely." She sighed deeply.

"I was alone with nobody and it seemed like the world didn't care." She sits down across from me. "I felt like no one could see me or care, but....you're not alone."

"What made you happy again?" I asked.
"Two people saved me."
She was once like me.

Hopeless
People saved her.
Like me.
"My mom and dad. I was adopted at the age of 10 and my life...turned for the best after that." Her smile warmed my heart.
