When they finally allowed Phil to see Dan, he realized he was nervous. They'd only met once, and after all that happened he was afraid he would just upset him even more.
He cautiously stepped into the room and the first thing he saw was the broken boy, with bandaged arms, silently crying.
"Why didn't you just let me die," he let out a choked sob. "Now I'm just going to be even more of a burden."
"You never were a burden and you never will be. Why the hell would I just let you go?!"
"You barely know me. You don't know how I feel."
"I'm never going to know how you feel if you don't tell me. All I want you to do is talk to me. I want to help you, please."
"You can't help me!"
"Dan I'm sorry I thought you were getting better."
"I'm never going to get better."
