Prompt: Jungkook seems to flirt with you all the time, but it's never in public—always through calls or texts. When he sees you in public, he acts as if he doesn't even know you exist. What's worse is that you're falling for him, but it doesn't seem like he feels the same way. Is he teasing you or just playing hard to get?

How did I have the lucky fate of meeting someone as pretty as you?

You read the text, feeling your cheeks heat up, which made you angry. This guy was totally toying with you, and you knew it, but you couldn't seem to stop yourself from liking him. All he did was flirt with you over calls or texts, and then in person he'll completely ignore you. It was so frustrating, but a part of you, if you were honest, enjoyed the chase. The other side did not. And to make it worse, this had been going on for months.

You met Jungkook about five months ago, being introduced by your mutual friend Taehyung. It was nice at first, the two of you just said some simple hellos and introduced yourselves while Tae took the lead in the conversation.

Eventually, he had to leave because of family matters, causing you and Jungkook to be alone. He was reserved when Tae was there, but as soon as he walked out of the café doors, he began to flirt. He complimented you endlessly, with no shame, either. He even got touchy with you—grabbing your hands and holding them, then proceeding to tell you how soft they were. After about an hour of somewhat mutual flirting, he managed to coax your number out of you.

From there, the two of you talked endlessly. Sometimes you'd discuss your likes and dislikes, other times it would be playful conversation. You fell for him easily, and when the two of you had to meet in person for Jimin's, another mutual friend, birthday celebration, you were ecstatic. You couldn't wait to see him again, pictures he had sent not being enough for you.

However, when you tried to wave at him, he just gave you a confused look, as if he didn't know who you were. You made a few attempts to talk with him, only to have him act hesitant when he spoke to you. After five tries in total, you gave up, defeated.

But that didn't stop you from texting him afterwards to ask him what was up. His response was that flirting in public might lead to more than intended, which he wanted to keep secret from everyone else. You didn't really get it, but there wasn't too much of a problem with it, at least, not to you.

You asked him if it was possible for the two of you to meet up alone at some point, but he rejected the offer, saying he currently had no leisurely time, but would let you know when he was free. It was to your dismay, but you trusted him to tell you when he was free.

Of course, he never actually did do that, and after two months into your flirty relationship did you realize that this was never going to go public. You wanted to do something about it, but at times you felt it would be best if you didn't push it any further. You didn't think he would be angry with you if you did address the topic, but you still avoided it just to keep things calm. Still, even though the relationship only took place through your phones, and it annoyed the hell out of you, you couldn't help but like it just a bit.

Probably because Taehyung wanted to introduce the two of us?

You crossed your arms as you laid back on your couch, your eyes focusing on whatever was playing on the T.V. Thinking about how confusing this relationship was had your head hurting a bit, and you wanted a break from him, to be honest. If only for an hour or so so that you could sort out your feelings and see if it was just lust or if you were willing to try something out. You couldn't tell how he felt, though, because he kept sending you mixed signals. Sometimes you were really convinced that he liked you like that, with how personal he'd get, but then he'd ignore you and you'd be unsure of his true intentions again.

Regardless, you knew you couldn't help but long for him, and you were beginning to think it wasn't just sexually anymore. Romantic feelings had tried to bubble up within you before, and you constantly pushed them down, denying that you liked him. You told yourself that you just liked how much he complimented you and would let you vent to him sometimes when you had a bad day. But as of late, and as you started to think about your feelings, the crave for a truly affectionate relationship with Jungkook made itself more apparent.

So, you placed your phone on the coffee table, ignoring the vibration that sounded once you set it down. You didn't want to be distracted by his games. You needed to really think. How exactly did you feel about Jungkook? Did you just want to keep this flirting game going on?

You sighed. Honestly, no, you didn't. You didn't like the back and forth of constant flattering. You wanted something deep, and whether it would be with him or not was what you wanted to try and figure out. You did want to be with him. At least, you thought you did. You liked the way he treated you when he wasn't hitting on you. It was real, as if he may be considering asking you out. You would always be let down, though, because those moments were little to none compared to how long you've been talking and how much you chatted throughout the day. This process was infuriating, so you knew that you either wanted to leave him or try to make it something more. Whichever it was, you aimed to solve that within the next hour.

If anything, you needed to meet him in person after all of this. You wouldn't want to end this, whatever that meant, over text, preferring to do it face to face. And if you did end up wishing to try and develop it into a real relationship, you'd want to ask him that in person as well. To do either of those through the phone just seemed wrong to you.

And then, you remembered. It was nearing Hoseok's birthday, and you knew that he wouldn't miss celebrating it for the world. He was hosting a party this upcoming weekend, in fact. Jungkook definitely had connections with him, whether he actually talked to him or it was through Taehyung like you, he had to be going to that party, right?

You lied about ignoring his text, but only because you wanted to ask him if he would be going.

So, you picked up your phone, unlocking it and reading his message.

Why so sassy, baby? Is something up?

The first question was definitely asked teasingly, but you knew him well enough to tell that the second question was meant to be read in a concerned tone. He did care about you, and that's what made this whole stupid situation all the more aggravating.

No, nothing's wrong, but thank you for asking. Are you going to Hoseok's party this weekend?

You locked your phone, grumbling to yourself. Why couldn't your life be easier? Why couldn't you just meet a nice guy who wouldn't play games with you and would straight up tell you if he liked you or if he was just looking for a hook up? It often seemed like Jungkook just wanted to hook up or have a one-night stand, but he never actually said anything about doing that, thus leading you to believe that maybe he didn't want that. That maybe he actually, deep down, wished to have a romantic relationship with you.

There was a vibration in your hand, and you unlocked your phone again, scanning his message.

Anytime, beautiful. You know I'm here for you. And, yeah, I'll be there. Why? You want to see me? You know I could always just send you photos.

You groaned at his cockiness, rolling your eyes. Was he really this conceited or was it all a façade that he played since it was over text? He didn't have to look you in the eyes, so there was no error that would be made. But you didn't understand why, besides wanting it to be secret, he couldn't just talk to you in person like you had when the two of you first met!

It might be more than that, if you catch my drift.

Deciding to leave the message at that, you placed your phone on the table so you could ignore him again. Now, time to sort out your feelings properly.
