17-year-old Maxine Young's whole world is destroyed when the planet of Corossa bombs her city leaving her one of the only survivors. She and her friends join the other survivors in a fight against the invading Corossians until they are captured and taken to a scientific lab on Corossa where they are experimented on. These experiments leave them with new senses and strengths which help in their fight against Corossa after they are rescued and taken back to their planet, Draven. This leads to Draven winning the war against Corossa but Maxine and her friends are left with a destroyed planet and they have no idea how to begin again.
