You tell him how you were bullied as a human.

"You know, I always kinda had a thing for brunettes until I met you. Never thought I would marry a blonde", Damon said, a teasing smile forming on his lips. You gave him a look as you stirred your coffee around in your cup softly.

" I was a natural brunette. All throughout my human years. I just took to the blonde so well that it looks natural", you informed him. He raised an eyebrow.

"You're kidding. You never told me that. Why did you go blonde?", Damon asked, his eyes filled with curiosity, as you rarely talked about your human life, even to him.

" Because I was always picked on about my hair. It was one of the many, many things I was teased about. When I turned, it was like the start of a new me. New hair seemed fitting", you told him softly.

Damon gazed at you silently, his muscles tensing at the thought of people hurting you, of teasing you. It made him utterly furious, and inexplicably sad.

"You were teased?", he asked, knowing you were under playing it. You eyes stayed fixed on your coffee cup as you bit your lip.

" Yeah. People need a scapegoat, you know? Someone they can make fun of to deflect from their own problems. I was the scapegoat. Money wasn't flowing at home. Things were tough. The "popular kids" preyed on that fact", you said softly. Damon's thumb stroked your palm softly.

"You never told me that", he said into the silence. "Was it bad?"

"I guess it was. When you're called so many bad things so many times, you start to believe it. I started to believe it. People were so...so mean. And I never knew what I did to deserve it. I didn't deserve that", you said, more to yourself than him. Damon closed his eyes, anger saturating him.

" No sweetheart, you didn't", he said, kissing your hand. His soft voice made you snap out of it, and you coughed gruffly, embarrassed by your confession.

" It's not an issue anymore. I got over it a long time ago", you said lightly, as you stood up to put your cup into the sink.

Your body froze as Damon hugged you softly from behind, as he kissed your shoulder gently. Your eyes closed for a minute, and then you pulled away.

"I don't want pity", you said firmly.

" I don't pity you. You won ", he said simply. You blinked.

"What-I won?"

"Yeah. Those asses, they probably did nothing with their lives but bring people down. They did nothing, period. You are the most beautiful person I have even met Y/N. You're so kind, so pure, you amaze me everyday. You have a life here. You have friends who love you, and you have me. I will always love you, always do anything and everything for you. Always. So yeah, you won", he said simply.

You took a deep breath as you smiled at Damon. You grabbed his hands, squeezing them softly, before you tiptoed up to kiss him lightly.

" Yeah, I think I definitely did win. I think I'm winning every day", you said, before pulling him into a deeper kiss.
