After they had both gotten into the car, Amber turned to Aidan, who was rubbing his jaw. She turned and gently touched it, and he winced. There wasn't any blood, but the bruise was going to be bad. "Aidan, I'm so sorry. I feel awful," Amber said, truly remorseful. "No, no, it's not your fault that your ex is an ass," he smiled, then winced again as smiling hurt his jaw. "Thanks for looking out for me," she said quietly, her head down. Aidan was silent, so she looked up at him. He leaned over and kissed her lightly on the lips, and both of their worries melted away.
