Aidan spent the next hour explaining everything to Amber, omitting the parts that her memory hated him for. If she didn't remember anything, there was no use in bringing up the bad stuff, right? After a few more stories about him catching her crying while reading a book, Aidan could tell that she was simply exhausted. All of the sedatives and anaesthesia that she had been on during the surgery that saved her life had not fully worn off, and she was still too weak and tired to do much. Aidan moved his stiff, uncomfortable hospital chair right next to Amber's bed, grateful that he was that close to her. He quietly laced his fingers with hers as she slowly drifted back into the peaceful depths of sleep. His heart nearly beat out of his chest as she squeezed his hand ever so slightly before succumbing to her slumber.
