I pushed my way through the mass of sweaty, dancing bodies and made my way out onto the balcony. I threw a party for New Year's Eve that was supposed to be small, but somehow the word had gotten out, and the whole senior class showed up. I really didn't want to have a party like this.
I sat down on the bench on the balcony then saw a guy sitting alone in the corner. He looked over at me so I quickly looked away, but not without catching his eyes. They were the most beautifully indescribable mixture of blue and green that I'd ever seen. I looked back over at the boy and he was staring at me. I blushed slightly then saw him get up out of his chair. I assumed that he was going inside so I looked back out at the city, but then someone sat down beside me. I looked over and it was the boy.
"Hi." He said.
"Hey." I said.
"I'm Dalton." He said.
"I'm (y/n)." I replied.
"The one who threw the party?" He asked.
"Yeah." I said.
"Then why are you out here?" He asked.
"I really wanted to just have a small thing with some friends but then word got out and suddenly the whole senior class in my school was here." I explained.
"That's what happens in high school. I went through something like that in my senior year. I had a party one Saturday, just for fun, and everyone from my school showed up." He said.
"When did you graduate?" I asked.
"2 years ago, I'm 20 now." He replied.
"Awesome." I said.
"And I'm guessing you're 18." He said.
"I am." I confirmed.
"2 years, not so bad." He flirted, winking at me. I blushed slightly and smiled.
"How did you find out about the party?" I asked.
"My cousin is a senior in your school and she told me that I should come and find someone to kiss at midnight." He replied.
"Have you ever had a midnight kiss?" I asked.
"No. I could have a couple of times with past girlfriends but we were never able to be together on New Year's Eve." He said.
"That sucks. I haven't either, I've been single for the past 18 years of my life." I said.
"That can't be true, you're too pretty for that." He said.
"Believe it, I've never had a boyfriend." I said, trying to stop myself from blushing. I heard people start yelling from inside and I realized that the countdown has started.

"Well, I could give you your first New Years kiss." He said.

"Really?" I asked.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!"
Instead of replying, Dalton leaned in and kissed me. I blushed madly then snapped myself out of my trance and kissed him back.
We pulled away after a few seconds and he smiled at me.
"I guess it's not so bad that everyone in your school found out about the party." He said.
"I guess not." I agreed. He smiled then put a hand on my cheek before giving me a look as if asking if he could kiss me again. I nodded then he leaned in and pressed his lips to mine. My stomach flipped with the amazing feeling I was getting from his soft lips on mine.
He pulled away a little while later then someone came outside calling his name.
"Time to go home, Dalton." The girl said.
"I'm just coming." He replied. She went back inside then Dalton looked at me.
"That's my ride." He said. I nodded then he smiled at me.
"Could I maybe get your number?" He asked.
"Sure." I replied. I told it to him then he kissed my cheek before saying goodbye and leaving. I'm really glad everyone found out about the party.
