6.7.6

I met the Update around midnight. Usual spot. All dark shadows and sneaky glances. The guy had no chill bone in his lanky body, but hey, he's an Update. He lives for the thrill, not the chill.

6.7.6 was his name. New guy. Better than the last one. He rounded the corner and gave me a nod. Friendly. I like that in an Update.

First thing he says to me is, "Whatcha got in your library, fool?" And I balk at him 'cause I can't remember right off the top of my head. "What if I told ya we've changed our library sync logic and are now keeping your library up to date with all the new parts of your favourite stories without the need to refresh. "

"Gee Willickers, never thought I'd see the day!"

"There's more," he smirks and whips open his trench. I jumped back and covered my eyes, unprepared for the sight.

"What is that?" I bark at him, and the Update has the nerve to chuckle like he's some kind of happy badger with a pinecone.

"It's the new profile. Redesigned. Now you can show everyone exactly who you're following."

I peek from behind my fingers, and the dang Update is right. It's a real beaut.

"Nice work, Update. You're a real razzmatazz."

He gives me a confident nod and turns towards the street without another word. He knows exactly what he is. He doesn't need me, some shabby Release Notes from the App to tell him so.
