Chapter 8

“How’s Mama?”

“Xavier!” She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw him. She was so worried a while ago when Minerva complained of nausea and blurring of vision.

He hugged her and kissed her.

“What happened?”

“Thanks for taking care of my mother, Kat…” Madamdaming pahayag ng kanyang asawa.

Napangiti siya. “Your mother is very nice, Xavier. Binabalik ko lang ang ipinapakita niyang kabutihan.”

“You’re the best,” his eyes twinkled as he cupped her face. He kissed her again, longer this time.

He only stopped kissing her when they heard Minerva moan. The lady was sleeping when Xavier arrived. Siguro ay gising na ito.

“Ma…”

Minerva opened her eyes and smiled at her son. “Xavier...”

“How are you feeling, Mama?” He asked gently.

Tahimik lamang na nanonood si Katrina. One things that she discovered about her husband was that he was close to his mother. And he was taking good care of her. She had great respect for children who take good care of their parents. Katulad niya.

You should be extra-careful.”

It’s getting complicated. Your mother is already old…”

“Ma, naman…” Pinisil nito ang kamay ng ina. “Don’t say that. You are only sixty-one. Napakabata n’yo pa.”

“I’m not young anymore, son. I’m already a Senior Citizen. But not yet a grandma.” Nagkalambong ang mga mata nito.

Xavier smiled. “Don’t worry, Ma. Malapit ka nang maging lola. We’re working on that. Right, hun?” He glanced at her.

She felt something in her stomach flutter. “Yes,” mahinang sagot niya. Well, Xavier married her because he wanted a child.

“You better double your time, Xavier. I’m growing old and weak.”

“Mama, please... don’t say that, okay?
