Chapter 5: It was a suicide

"Are you sure you didn't see anything? Hear anything?"
"No."
The detective sighed,"Alright...you can go."
And with that, Ayano stood and walked out of the classroom.
As she stepped out of the doorway, she bumped into someone.
"Oh, sorry." Ayano stepped back.
"Hey." Budo grinned,"Fancy meeting you here."
"Yeah..." Ayano just wanted to find her senpai before he left, who knows what could happen to him! He could be kidnapped or murdered. But Ayano wasn't going to let that happen.
"Sorry, I should be going now."
Before Budo could reply, Ayano began to walk down the hall.
"Wait..."
Agitated, Ayano turned.
"Do you know what happened to Osana? Like, really? People are spreading so many rumors that nobody knows what really happened."
Ayano pierced him with her cold, gray eyes.
She hesitated, considering what to say.
"...It was a suicide." She said, in a monotone voice.
Budo's mouth was open, but no words came out.
Ayano turned and left.

After making sure Senpai got home safely, Ayano returned to her own home and sat in silence on the couch.

Does he know?
Did I say too much?
If he senses something, I'll have to keep an eye on him.

Ayano stared hard at the small picture frame, in it was a family portrait. Her mother and father, their small child stood in between them, eyes like a doll's staring at the camera. Something about her father bothered her though. She reached for the photograph and brought it closer.

Her father looked almost exactly like that annoying Budo Masuta.

Ayano scowled and tossed the picture aside. It landed on the floor with a rattle.

Meanwhile, at the Masuta residence...

Yawning, Budo walked down the hall, stopping every once and a while to remember the memories captured in their frames.
He stopped at a family portrait of him and his parents.
When he saw his mother, he felt a pain in his heart.
His mother passed away when he was young, and his father never told him how.

Wait a second...

Budo squinted at his mother's face.

It looked almost exactly like Ayano Aishi.
Budo smirked and walked away.
