Chapter 5

I feel crippled. Wedding. Teddy. Victorie. August. I just can't get the pieces in place.

"Huh?" mom says to break the compact silence. " What did you say? She's only eighteen and you are twenty."

"You were twenty when you married the man who is your husband, your children's dad and my godfather," Teddy states and pointing at dad who sits as ossified and stares at Teddy.

"It does not matter, it was other times ... it was ... everyone were so happy to ... "

"Okay, we may not need to disclose the reasons," dad interrupts and looks pointedly at mom who looks like she was about to reveal something.

" No, no, perhaps not ," mom said. "But Teddy, we really loved each other."

"And so do we," Teddy said.

"Teddy, marriage means responsibility, it is a job for two," dad said. "Do you realize what a challenge it will be for both of you who are so young?"

"You were too young," said Teddy. " You were twenty-one, you're only a year older than Ginny."

"But she said there were other times," dad says.

"What's the difference? Sure, it's 2018 now, but so much can't have changed."

"Oh you have no idea how much has changed Teddy," mom said.

The compact silence strikes again. James have lost the power of speech altogether, and I can't say anything else about myself. I tend to be silent, but maybe not this quiet. Lily is also in shock. Her mouth is always talking nonsens. Now she is only with her mouth open and fork halfway to her mouth .

Suddenly she releases the fork and it falls down on the plate. She jumps down from the chair while she screams:

"Finally, finally, finally, now you'll be a member of the family for real."

She runs up to Teddy and jumps onto his lap and throws her arms around him. He hugs her back with a happy smile.

Me and James still can't say anything. But Mom and Dad seem to have swallowed the news and look happy as well.

"Okay then, congratulations Teddy, really," mom said.

"Oh god, you're getting married," dad says. "I feel like it wasn't so long ago your dad showed me a picture of you as a baby with turquoise hair, and now you're getting married. Your dad wouldn't be anything but happy, given that you're getting married to the daughter of Bill Weasley, they were good friends."

Teddy looks a little sadly happy. He must think of Remus.

"I know I have not met him, or well yes when I was a baby, but I dosen't remember him, of courses," Teddy said. "I just wish he and Mom could be on the wedding. I still don't know how they died, everyone has told small pieces, but it gets so messy when I try to figure it out."

Dad gets a guilty glance. He seems to know exactly how it happened. Not only he, by the way, Mom too, she looks at least as guilty out as dad.

"When I went to Hogwarts most of them said that my father was a monster because he was a werewolf," said Teddy.

"No Teddy, we went through this several years ago," dad says. "Remus John Lupin was just as a big monster as Lily. Don't get things to you again. He was actually the teacher of Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts during my third year, I didn't knew him them, I didn't know he was a werewolf, but he helped me so much over the years, and from that moment I trusted wholeheartedly in that man. It was he who taught me to produce a Patronus at full strength, he taught me so much, and you know he was my father's best friend, he knew very well that Remus was a werewolf, but he didn't think he was a monster, and then you can't do that either."

It looks as if dad says less than he really wants. He withholds something.

Teddy presses Lily closer to him. And now I see that he comforts her.

"Lily why are you crying, sweetie?" mom asks and looks uncertainly at her daughter.

"It's just so sad," she sobs. "I've always had you and Dad, but Teddy has had to grow up without his parents, I can't even imagine living without you and Dad."

I take to me Lily just said. Living without Mom and Dad. I take Dad's hand. So warm and alive. The blood flowing in his veins. What if I hadn't been able to holf this big, warm and alive hand. Dad. Died. Wouldn't sit at this table. Dad!

"Albus?"

I look up . Everyone is staring at me. Mom and Dad looks worried. Teddy looks worried, Lily looks wonderingly at me and James glance says he thinks he has a weird little brother.

"How are you honey?" mom asks.

"Good," I say tentatively. "Why?"

"Well, for once I get blood stop in his hand, little man," dad said.

I look down on dad's knee where our hands are resting. My hand clamps dad's hand tightly. I release the pressure and dad's hand relaxes.

With all eyes on me I quickly stand up and starts to run out of the kitchen. I don't want them to see when the tears start to come. And they will, I know it. Just when I've closed the door to my room. I lie on the bed and just let the tears run down on my pillow.
