Candace never came to school the next day or the day after that. Ryder wondered who'd been on the phone that made her pale as soon as she answered. She hadn't even said goodbye to them as she rushed out the door. "I miss Candy." Carter groaned resting his chin against the lung table. "You've said that for the last fifteen minutes." Archer replied dully  skimming through the apps on his phone. "I know but why did she have to leave so early?" He whimpered

"If you miss her so much then just call her, you did steal her phone number remember?" Asher yawned. Ryder grimaced slightly, he wasn't found of Carter and how he dealt with girls. "Oh right, totally forgot." He grinned pulling out his phone. He pressed his thumb against the home button activating Siri. He cleared his throat, "Siri call My Bae." "Which one?" Siri asked in her usual monotone voice. Archer began to cough on his Mountain Dew as he laughed. Asher smiled while Carter's cheeks became inflamed. Ryder mentally rolled his eyes.

"I'm sorry I didn't catch that?" Siri spoke again "Call My Bae.....number 56." Carter lowered his voice. "Calling Bae number 56." Carter quickly put the phone on speaker. Since the cafeteria was loud as ever Ryder doubted that anyone could hear anything coming from there table. Someone picked up on the fourth ring. "Hello?" Candace's voice sounded airy as if she'd caught a cold. "Candy, baby!" Carter exclaimed. There was a few moments of silence before Candace spoke again. "Carter I told you to lose my damn phone number!" She snapped

"I know but I decided to ignore that request." Carter answered back fanning his hand in the air. "What exactly is it that you want?" Candace asked with a sigh. "I was wondering how you haven't been in school, I miss you babe." Carter stared at the phone screen. "I- umm...caught the flu?" She replied it as more of a question as if she were uncertain of her excuse. "Aww my poor baby." Carter frowned as Archer snickered. "Carter you do realize that I know I'm on speaker." Candace pointed out. "See this is why I'm in love with you babe, you're so smart." Carter grinned "Mhm, save that for numbers one through fifty five." Candace snorted

Carter's eyebrows furrowed as he looked away from the phone. "How did she know that." He whispered leaning away from the device so she wouldn't hear. "I suggest you put a lock on your phone and also your not a very good whisperer, babe." Ryder could hear the smirk in her voice. "You went through my phone?!" Carter shrieked. "Yep." She answered popping the 'p'. "Oh and you should delete some of those pics." Carter's cheeks bursted into flames. "I hope you still love me babe." She joked making kissing noise on the other end. Archer kept laughing till he was in tears. Asher let out a few chuckles now and then while Ryder just shook his head. "Wha-...I-umm...h-how?" Carter stammered. "Look as much as I just love and adore you guys, I've gotta go, I'll come by Carter's place later." She hung up leaving Carter in a stunned state of embarrassment.

Ryder couldn't help but feel glad that she was coming over later, even after the way he'd treated her she still stuck around. He had to admit that he'd missed her after all these years. He had a reason for being an ass towards her but he wasn't about to give in and change his ways even if she had stolen his heart long ago.
