"Eugh..." Phoenix recoiled from the toilet, completely disgusted by the mass of gloopy yellow(ish) liquid which was now sitting at the bottom of it. He staggered backwards a bit after quickly yanking the flush handle, watching the stuff get sucked down into the infinite abyss of... Well, sewage.
"Phoenix...? You sounded like you were..." Edgeworth's muffled voice crept out from underneath the door, not finishing the sentence. Phoenix ignored him, staring at himself in the mirror with a horrified expression at what he saw. A pale looking man in a crumpled blue suit and messy black hair stared back at him. He hurriedly splashed some water on his face and ran his fingers through his hair, but it made no difference.

Now he was just a pale looking man in a crumpled blue suit with messy black hair and a sopping wet face.

He sighed, rolled his eyes and straightened up, fumbling with the belt which was fastened tightly around his waist so that it would loosen a bit. Constricting his stomach after being sick wasn't very wise. He had to go out and face Edgeworth. Maybe what happened the night before would be forgotten? Phoenix surely hoped so. As he took a step towards the door, a wave of nostalgia hit him: as soon as Edgeworth had woken up and seen the state he was in, he'd been bitterly worried. Just one look at his face could tell anyone who saw it that he was deeply concerned. Phoenix clutched his stomach and bowed his head slightly, a little, thin lipped smile playing on his lips. Edgeworth had pulled that same face when they were younger and Phoenix had almost got run over my a car. He was about to walk out into the road when he was on the way to school without checking if there were any vehicles and Edgeworth had instantly cried out and grabbed his collar, abruptly yanking him back onto the pavement. Edgeworth had saved his life. As he'd panicked about him, asking him a flurry of questions, he'd pulled that same face. The same one he'd pulled when Phoenix was in hospital and Larry had called Edgeworth saying he was 'going to die' (yes, Larry had exaggerated just a tad...) and the same one he'd pulled just now. It was funny, how he'd kept that expression. Oh, how Phoenix loved that face-

'Phoenix............'

That hair, too. He'd never changed his silky, soft, grey hair's hairstyle-

'Phoenix.'

The cravat. The cravat was a nice touch. Not many people wore cravats nowadays... It made him unique-

'Phoenix!!!??'

And talk about his red suit! Phoenix had always liked the colour crimson-

"PHOENIX?!" Edgeworth's voice pulled Phoenix back to reality and he found himself stumbling blindly towards the door and unlocking it with shaky hands. He weakly pulled it open an inch to be faced with a baffled Edgeworth, his brow furrowed with concern.
"S-sorry....." Phoenix mumbled to the floor, staring at his feet which were both facing inward at awkward angles. He felt heat slowly seeping into his cheeks;
"It's ok.. I'm sorry I shouted. I was..." Edgeworth folded his arms and cleared his throat, his eyes fixed firmly on Phoenix - whose hairs were now prickling with Edgeworth's gaze -
"I was worried." Phoenix bowed his head further, until he felt like he was going to topple over. All the blood was rushing to his head, making it pound and ache.
"Hm.. Mm.. Nn..." Phoenix clenched his teeth as he felt his palms become sweaty.
"Phoenix. Look me in the eye. Tell me what's wrong." It wasn't a question and there was no subtlety about it. It was a command. Phoenix licked his lips to muster courage before sheepishly raising his head to meet Edgeworth's gaze. Their eyes locked onto each other for a moment and they were silent, waiting for the other person to speak up first. When neither did, Edgeworth raised his voice slightly;
"What happened." There was no hint of a question in his voice this time, either.
"W-well... I-I think I uh-"
"You.........?"
"May have accidentally drunk.. Slightly too much... Wine..." Phoenix bit his lip with embarrassment.

'In front of Edgeworth..! This is so degrading...'

It was all Phoenix could do not to bury his head in his hands and try to avoid Edgeworth's penetrating glare.
"And...?"
"I... Feel ill..." Phoenix shifted uncomfortably and subconsciously turned his head away, desperate not to look Edgeworth in the eye anymore. In the corner of his eye, he could still see Edgeworth's expression slightly. Was he........ Smiling...?! Phoenix was almost certain of it. It was only a brief moment, but he was sure he noticed a small smile flicker on his lips. It wasn't a malicious smirk, though. It was more like... An amused smile.
"Phoenix, stop hiding your face from me," He softly spoke, all traces of any smile whatsoever completely disintegrated. Phoenix groaned under his breath and turned to face him again;
"S-sorry."
"So, you threw up.....?"
"Uh-I guess you could... Yeah." Phoenix paused mid-sentence, realising it was futile to lie.
"I'm sorry." Edgeworth sadly smiled, regret registering on his face.
"Wh-wha..."
"I shouldn't have kept giving you wine.." Edgeworth's shoulders slumped and he suddenly thrust himself forward at Phoenix, hugging him tightly enough to strangle him. His head was buried in Phoenix's shoulder and he was whispering repeatedly;
"I would never have forgiven myself if something had happened to you..."
"H-hey! Edgeworth...." Phoenix stared in shock at the prosecutor who was now silently clinging onto him with his arms locked securely around his body. "E-Edgeworth...?" When he got no response, he resorted to patting him reassuringly on the back, feeling too self-conscious to do anything else. After about 5 minutes, the back-patting seemed to have turned into a sort of 'back-rubbing' and Edgeworth sounded like he was slightly sobbing. Phoenix seemed to have completely given up on the 'hiding-his-embarrassment' idea and was now blushing ferociously.

'Ouch...! Is he BITING my shoulder or something?! It hurts.......'

In reality, Edgeworth was crying with his mouth slightly open, so yes, this meant that he was sometimes accidentally biting Phoenix's shoulder. "E-Edgeworth...?" Phoenix frowned as he stared at him.

'What the hell do I do...?! I can't stand here all day!  ....... What's he crying about, anyway?'

"Uughh..." Edgeworth finally stepped back from Phoenix, after what seemed like an eternity, and sniffled, hastily dabbing his red eyes with his sleeve. Phoenix looked dismally at his suit's shoulder, secretly revolted by the saliva stains left - although the marks could be Edgeworth's tears. He then instantly faced Edgeworth again, his breath shallow and his heart racing.
"Phoenix."
"Hm?" Phoenix's eyes flickered with recognition as he was brought, once again, out of his thoughts.
"........ I love you." Edgeworth gave Phoenix a few seconds to think, eyeing his reaction carefully. Phoenix's mind and body felt numb with pins and needles stabbing him continuously, with a giant spider of adrenaline crawling up his back and constantly biting him, infecting him with its powerful disease.

Before Phoenix could come up with an intelligent response, Edgeworth had already leaned in and his soft lips had collided with Phoenix's.
