All Life

All life is suffering

Seeing and feeling

Hearing even tasting the bitterness of this life

Everyday a new house is emptied

Furniture, clothes, cribs

All thrown onto the yard

And the family onto the street

If they are lucky

Perhaps a family or friends will be able to help

I pass by these houses and fear my turn will come

I may or may not expect it when it does happen

Either way

I will drive up to my house

And there will be no drive way

No garage to park the car in

Not warm bed to sleep in

My clothes scattered across the white concrete

Drenched in rain water

Covered by leaves

Sunken in snow

Or if I’m lucky lying in the summer sun

In a single moment I've lost everything

In a single moment I've become a street beggar

Thankfully as far as I can see that is not me

Though it is someone other unfortunate soul

From the grocery store I walk with my bags to my car

Through the cold winter wind

A man stops me in my tracks

He ask for some change

Peaking from inside his torn jacket a small girl clings to her father

While my own daughter lays in a warm bed at home

I have no money and am forced to walk away leaving their hands empty

Their tin cans silent.

Turning my car on I leave for home

I leave the man and his daughter to die

Winter has no sympathy for the poor

Winter has no sympathy for the unfortunate

The world cares not of us

It minds us not

It's a dog at dog world

They take you for all you have

When you have no more

You are no more.

The world cares not of us

It minds us not

It's a dog at dog world

They take you for all you have

When you have no more

You are no more.
