The Girl in the Glass Cage

Once upon a time.

In a land far away.

There lived a girl.

Locked inside a glass cage.

She cried day and night.

Over the things she had done.

One was stealing food.

For her old and weak mum.

She yelled with all her might.

But no one ever came.

And thought she was heard by many.

They must think she was insane.

How could they be so heartless.

She asked herself each day.

Sitting in utter silence.

As the people went on their way.

Drowning in her tears.

Screaming for her life.

She decided that no one cared.

On the table lay a knife.

Slowly creeping over.

With little energy to spare.

She grabbed the silver handle.

And tried to take her life that day.

But as the knife drew near to her skin.

An angel flew in front of it.

The glass cage was shattered.

A little bruised she was.

But what did it matter?

Her life had just been saved.

The people began to stare in awe.

A way for hope had been paved!

Tears spread across her tiny face.

The only words she spoke.

Were "I am here for a reason, there is hope!"

Still a question lingered on.

Why did no human help me?

For surely they knew she stole for her mom.

When all along the struggle was that.

The glass cage she was in.

Was invisible by everyone else.

Who had not committed that same sin.

So a part of her died believing.

That no one but the angel cared for her.

When the truth simply stated was.

She couldn't be seen or heard.
