*Taylor's POV*
I took Ross's hand and we walked into the kitchen. Our moms were deep in conversation, and as much as I wanted them to catch up, this couldn't wait.
"Mom, Stormie, can we talk to you guys alone for a second, please?" I asked sternly.
"Sure, sweetie, what's up?" Stormie replied worriedly as we walked into the living room so we could be alone.
"Is anything wrong, guys?" My mom asked.
"Well, yeah, kinda." Ross answered, looking at me.
I noticed we were still holding hands, but I didn't pull away, and neither did he.
"Ross has sent me letters and tried to call me over the past couple of years, but he never got anything back. And I sat at home, waiting everyday for something to come from Ross, but it never did. Do you know where the letters went? And why we never actually got to speak to each other?" I asked suspiciously.
Both our moms looked at each other and sighed.
"Well..." My mom started.
"We didn't want you to feel any worse about the Lynches' move than you already did, Tay, so when we moved house, I gave Stormie our new home phone number, but we agreed we wouldn't tell Ross or the kids because it may have been upsetting."
"We just didn't want either of you to feel upset over the move." Stormie added.
Ross and I just stared at our mothers.
"So, I was mad at Ross for all those years because I thought he broke our promise, and Ross was upset for all those years because he never got any letters or calls back. Do you know how that makes us feel?" I raised my voice slightly.
"Come on, Tay, you know it was for the best." Mom said back to me.
"FOR THE BEST?! IF YOU THINK THAT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO, THEN YOU WERE SO WRONG!" I shouted before storming outside.
I ran and sat behind a bush in the front garden. I just sat there and contemplated what would have happened if we had been allowed to speak to each other again.
As I thought more about it, I agreed with my mother and Stormie a lot more. I mean, if I'd have known things like the Lynches' phone number or their address, I could have run away! That wouldn't have ended well.
As I was about to get up and apologise, I looked up to see Ross and Rydel coming towards me.
"Hey, Tay, you ok?" Rydel pulled me into a hug.
"Yeah, I'm fine now, thanks. I think I just needed time to think things through, and I've decided I'm going to apologise to my mom and Stormie." I sighed, pulling away from the hug and looking towards Ross. He held his arms out, and I ran into them.
He kissed the top of my forehead before pulling away from the hug and lifted my chin gently so I was looking at him.
"You good?" He asked.
I laughed slightly. "Yeah, I'm good. Come on, it's getting cold out here! Let's go Delly!" I linked arms with Rydel and we skipped back up to the house, leaving Ross's laughter behind.
As I went in, I saw Cameron, Riker, Rocky and Ryland in the kitchen, stuffing their faces with ice cream, completely oblivious as to what has been going on over the last 30 minutes.
"Guys! Why didn't you tell me we had ice cream?!" I heard Ross call as he ran past us. We giggled and then turned to face the living room.
"You ready?" Rydel asked.
"Yep!" I said, popping the 'p'.
We walked into the room to see my mom and Stormie talking. They stopped as they noticed us walk in.
"Look, Stormie, Mom, I'm really sorry I shouted like I did and I stormed off. I've had time to think and I realised that what you did we actually a good thing, not a bad thing." I said with my head down.
"It's fine, Taylor." I looked up in shock at Stormie and my mom. "I know the move was hard on you, and maybe what we did was a little out of hand, but now we all know it was for the best." Stormie said with a smile.
I ran over to my mom and Stormie and brought them together for a group hug.
"Aww, I wanna join this too!" Rydel laughed and joined in the hug.
We all walked into the kitchen laughing and joking.
"Hey Taylor! Wasn't it your birthday yesterday?" Riker asked me. I sighed, this year's birthday wasn't the greatest.
"Yeahhhh, why?"
"Well, since it was Ross's birthday yesterday as well, and we didn't get to bring out his birthday cake, why not share it now between the two of you?"
My face lit up as I looked at Ross. He smiled and winked at me.
Rocky ran to the pantry and came back with a huge cake in an unfamiliar shape.
"Hey, what is that?" I asked, pointing to the logo on the cake.
"That's our band's logo. R5!" Ross answered proudly. I felt surprised and shocked. I knew the Lynches were talented, but I didn't know that they'd become a band!
"That's awesome! Are you all in the band?"
"Well, everybody except for Ryland, who does the lights and DJs." Rydel said.
"But, our best friend, Ellington Ratliff, is in the band too!" Rocky said with a smirk.
"That's so cool!" I smiled.
"Hey. We've got a show coming up on Saturday, you should definitely come and watch us!" Ross exclaimed.
"Definitely!" Cameron agreed.
"Y'know what else neither me or Ross has had this year?" I announced. Everybody looked around in confusion.
" A PARTY!" I sang happily.
"Hey, we should arrange a party for the both of you for next Saturday! How does that sound?" Ryland said.
Everybody agreed, and Rydel said she would plan it all for us.
"Time to light the candles!" Stormie yelled.
Ross picked me up in a piggy-back and kept me there until we both bent down to blow out the candles.
This birthday didn't turn out as bad as I thought it would.
