So Human

The bruises decorate the naked bodies

their painted skin is illuminated by the harsh fluorescent lights

we put up a convincing show

as we cover them in exquisite robes

Broken ribs are showing through smooth, translucent skin

but their teeth are just as white as before

the lights are flickering now,

the room alternates between dark and light

Through the pulsing lights each of us can see what another is doing

Dropping expensive wine glasses to watch the blood seep through the paths

created by the glistening bodies, thick as honey

We work hard to thaw the hearts but it is soothing

I go for one last visit

Escaping like a snake to go see a friend

Her heart isn't beating, and her hair fans out like a mangled lampshade

And I'm not sure if I'm still sane

And through the chaos of this nightmare

they all looks so human, hopeful and hopeless

and though they're all gone

its weirdly perfect
