Ah, yes, the glorious, deeply thought of OC that you aspire to bring to fame. But most OC's don't end up like that.
The OC (Original Character) must have lots of thinking put into it. The OC musty weave into the story without standing out or changing the original plot, and can't be lame at the same time.
You could make your OC be the cause that Dumbledore grew a beard, or the reason Percy Jackson's camp mates were uneasy about him. You never know if your OC could make it.
Good Example Plot: Zamina Walters is a brand new Slytherin wizard at Hogwarts, and already that Potter boy poses as a trouble. Zamina decides to take action against him and requests others be uneasy around him, to make him go back to the Dursley's.
Bad Example Plot: Zamina Walters is a popular wizard with awful nail polish issues and saves the world with Harry Potter and Hermione Granger because no one cares about Ron and hooks up with Harry and kills Hermione because she thinks Hermione has the hots for Harry
