Ding Dong!

Ughhh, the door..

"ASHER! Could you get that!" My mom yells from downstairs.

"Uh huh"

"Ask who it is first!"

"Uh huh"

I can see through the window it is Jamie, which really pisses me off even more considering she is just a little female version of demon, Todd.

I open the door.

"Hi, Asher! Is Zoey home?!"

I look down and Jamie has bags filled with arts and crafts supplies.

"Yup. ZOEY!" I call.

"Are you alright, Asher?" Jamie asks.

"Yep."

Lately I have been in a really horrible mood that just won't go away. I feel like everything and everyone is really ticking me off, no pun intended. It's just ever since the incident at services on top of not having basketball in my life as much anymore, I've just feeling super duper crappy and lazy and bored and....yeah I think you get it.

"Hi, Jamie!" Zoey chirps, running down the stairs in an orange dress and a witch's hat.

I narrow my eyes at my sister.

"We have to start planning early! The hallobirthday is almost a month away!" Jamie explains to me.

I walk upstairs and walk into my room. I fall back onto my bed as I shoot crumpled papers into my mounted basketball hoop.

I start to really REALLY feel sorry myself. I could have had such a bright future playing for Villanova. Or if I wanted to explore a little bit maybe a school like UCLA or Kentucky.

But that will never happen now.

I continue chucking the crumpled up chemistry notes into my hoop.

BOOM! Door slams open.

"If you two are still ghost hunting or what not...just, don't do it in here please." I roll my eyes.

"No, we are putting that on hold." Jamie explains.

"Alright then.." I groan.

"Stop being so grumpy!" Zoey scolds me as she chucks one of my missed shots back at me.

"Yeah, quit being such a lazy sack!" Jamie joins in.

"Well if it weren't for you're jerk of a brother I wouldn't be.." I mumble.

"ASHER!"

"It's okay, Zoey. He's a dunce."

"The worst..." I moan into my pillow as I bury my face in it.

After about a minute I peer up from my bedside.

"Why are you two still here? What do you want..."

"Can you take us to the Halloween Store?" Jamie asks.

"The what?  I don't even have a car..." I whine.

"It's up a few blocks. Mom just won't let us walk by ourselves, but I promise it won't be too far. Pleeease, Ashy!"

Ugh, she made that famous cute Zoey face!

"Ok fine. But next time ask your stupid brother!" I say looking straight at Jamie.

"Thank you, Asher!!" Zoey cheers.

"Alright, alright. Let's just get on with this..." I huff.

I look down and realize I look like trash: green flannel pants, an over sized Villanova t-shirt, and my hair is just a mess.

"I think we should go as a pair. Want to be a cat witches?!"

"What the heck!" I laugh. "What do you even need?"

"Well, we need lots of toole, some more pom poms, streamers, glitter, maybe some hair stuff, ooh face paint too, maybe a few more-"

"Ok! Ok! Spare me!" I laugh.

We reach this store and it looks like a run down barber shop which honestly scares the crap out of me..

"Come on! I'll show you where all the best things are!" Jamie exclaims.

"This is PERFECT!" Zoey jumps as she follows Jamie.

Well, I didn't come all this way for nothing, let me at least explore what else this place has got..

I might get invited to at least a few Halloween parties and I want to leave a sharp impression.

Hmm...sexy firefighter eh?

"JOSHUA!"

I drop the highly inappropriate costume as soon as I hear that beautifully familiar voice.

"Joshua, we aren't buying any more candy. Mom sent us here to buy a new costume, remember? We only brought fifteen dollars with us."

I hide behind end of the aisle shelves as I observe the scene.

"NOOO! AHWEE, I WANT CHOCOLATES!"

"Josh. Do you remember we discussed staying on task and not straying away?"

"I DON'T CARE!" Joshua shrieks as he kicks and screams.

Wow, he is a cute kid. Dark brown hair, freckles, and he is wearing overalls and a pair of headphones.

They are about to turn down the aisle...

"COME!" Zoey grabs my wrist and drags me over to where Jamie is standing.

"No... that is not going in our house. Anything but scream. I'd rather not have nightmares

"Oh, poo! I brought my own money!" Zoey laughs.

As Zo and Jamie go to pay, I feel kind of guilty for my attitude....

"NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Josh screetches.

"AAAAAAAALLLLLLLY!!!!!!!!!!"

She hesitantly reaches into her pocket and pulls out some loose change.

As soon as Zoey finishes making her purchase, I dart out of the store before I can be recognized.
