"How was everyone's Halloween?!" Mr. Edward exclaims.
I don't understand why I'm still in the "Buddy program."
I've got Aly and that's great...but can't we just run away?...
Why am I still here?...
"We had fun." Aly says.
I smile.
"Lots of fun." I laugh.
"I just cannot get over you two!"
"Why?!" A boy named Thomas yells.
"Because they love each other!" That girl Sara who wanted pudding yells.
Aly and I look at each other and burst out laughing.
"Ok so let's get started on that note! Let's all sit with our buddies and write a list of what we are thankful for."
"Alright. To the back?"
I nod.
Aly and I sit on the floor and begin to write.
"I'm thankful for family and friends."
"Basicness." Iaugh.
"Basketball." I sing song.
"Typicalness." Aly spits back at me.
I nod in agreement.
"I'm thankful for Zoey."
"Same with Josh."
Silence.
"I thankful for how I felt the other night." Aly smiles
I smile too, but feel guilty..
"I'm thankful for my friends back home."
Aly looks up at me with a strange expression. Was she expecting a different response?
"Ok..write it."
"I'm thankful for you too!" I add in.
"Well I'm thankful you're staying here now."
I sigh.
I start ticcing more because I'm trying to hide the fact I decided I am definitely leaving from her.
"Yep."
Man, I can't do this...
"You good?"
"Mhm..."
"You're sure? We can talk about something if it's bothering you, Ash."
I nod.
"I know."
"Well I'm thankful for that."
Is it just me or is Aly using this activity as an excuse to be super passive aggressive?..
"ENOUGH!" I yell.
"What?"
"I know what you're doing, Aly! And I'm sorry! I'm going to Philadelphia!"
"I thought you were all upset about that though?.."
"No! I was at the time but not anymore. I really do think that would be the best decision for me. I know I'm annoyed at my father, but that is where I need to be."
"So you don't want to be with me."
"No, Aly, I love you and I am not leaving you. I'm just doing what my parents want me to do."
"Alright.."
"Aly, you are being ridiculous right now."
Aly shrugs.
"You cannot seriously be mad at me for not disobeying what my parents are telling me to do."
"Yeah but you can at least pretend you're upset."
"Aly! You saw how upset I was the other day! I might as well accept it if I can't change it!"
"Whatever.."
"Aly-"
"Whatever, Asher! Let's just forget about it."
Aly storms up and gathers all her things.
"Where are you going? There's fifteen more minutes left."
"Oh I'm sorry, did you want me to stay? Because I don't."
She storms out.
