"Somethings not adding up, Luke." I heard Clary say, my focus now turning to the pair. Andy had left an hour ago, and I taken up my time by watching Jace and Michael spar, but that was getting boring now. "How did you know Michael was dead?" I asked, walking up to Clary and Luke. They looked a bit suprised but covered it up. "Rumors, when the Lightwoods took Jace into the New York institute, we though Michael got hit," he sighed, looking down, "there were a lot of circle members who were trying to avenge Valentine back them." "Was that nineteen years ago?" Clary asked, confusing me. "It was twenty, why?" "Twenty," she murmured, my sensitive hearing barely catching it. I turned to leave, trying to figure out what Clary had found out. My phone buzzed at that moment and I pulled it out, not bothering to check before answering. "Hello?" I asked, continuing to exit the restaurant. "Claire, you need to get to the institute. Now." Magnus said, making me stop dead in my tracks. "Magnus, what happened?" I asked, immediately changing course and heading to the institute against my better judgement. "The clave is putting Izzy on trial." Magnus said, a nervous laugh coming from me. "I'm sorry, um, what?" I laughed again, realizing that it really wasn't the time or place to be doing it. "Just get your ass to the institute, I'm not doing this without you." He hissed, hanging up. I laughed again, trying not to cry. "Oh my god I think I'm going insane." I muttered, quickly leaving the restaurant. Jace, Clary, and Luke could handle themselves, and quite frankly I don't care what happens to Michael because I have no doubt that something is sketchy about him.
I walked into my room to find Magnus already waiting for me. He threw his hands up dramatically, sighing at me. "Finally, I've been waiting for what, ten minutes?" I laughed at his over exaggeration, waving him out of my room so I could change. I stripped off my dirty clothes and shoes, pulling on a red a-line dress, leather thigh high high heels, and a black choker. I pulled my hair up into a ponytail and left my room, meeting Magnus at the end of the hall. "Ready, love?" He asked jokingly, putting his arm out for me to grab. I grabbed it, and we started walking to where the trial was to be held. "Of course not." I muttered, rolling my eyes as everyone in the room all at once turned to us. Smirking, I made my way to the front row and sat in one of two empty seats next to Izzy. She grabbed my hand and we shared a look, both of us nodding after. Magnus sat next to me, and just like that the trial began. I could feel Alec's eyes burn holes into me as he stared. I grit my teeth, watching as Magnus stood up and approached the silent brothers sword. "Will I survive if I touch it?" Magnus asked, looking at the sword with distaste. I muffled a laugh, biting my lip as the inquisitor glared over at me. "If you tell the truth." She finally said. He nodded to himself at this. "By the power of this sword, do you swear to defend your client with integrity and honesty?" One of the silent brothers said, Magnus given an answer immediately. "No argument from me on that." Magnus said, slightly muttering it. I felt Izzy's grip tighten slightly before going back to normal and gripped back tighter. "Make your case, warlock." The inquisitor said, her gaze hard and cold. "My case is simple. It is true that Isabelle Lightwood acted against the orders of the Clave by trying to free the seelie, Meliorn. But she did not act against the interests of the Clave," Magnus said, his words firm, "preventing the forced questioning and possible death of a seelie may have saved the accords." "We're not her to speculate what might have happened if the defender hadn't interfered." The inquisitor stated. "You mean what might have happened if she hadn't stopped the silent brothers from torturing a seelie?" "I await a valid argument, do you have one?" "What you really want is the mortal cup. My client doesn't have it. Since this whole proceeding isn't about what it's really about, I move to have this cases dismissed." "You're out of order." The inquisitor said angrily, knowing that Magnus was right. I scoffed, knowing that the clave was just as backstabbing as I thought it to be. "No. This whole thing is out of order, it's not Isabelle's fault. It's the cup! Put the cup on trial!" Magnus yelled the last part, a smirk slowly starting to etch onto my face. Magnus could be a badass when he wanted to, and he just made a damn good argument.
This totally isn't late, by like two weeks. Yep totally is...n't.
