"Beth! Hurry up! We're going to be late!" Sean yelled, bashing on the bathroom door. Beth huffed and started to rush her lipstick. In doing so, she ended up over-drawing her lips. She quickly wiped it off with a makeup wipe and cleaned everything up. She checked herself in the mirror then left the bathroom.

"Right, how do I look?"

Beth twirled slightly in her pale blue, almost denim colour, t-shirt dress. Small, white patches dotted the dress, giving it a slightly distressed look. It had a Peter Pan collar and ruffles on the sleeves. She had looped a white, braided belt around her waist. A pair of knee high white socks covered her legs, her knees and the bottom half of her thighs the only part of her legs on show. She wore some dark blue, shiny ankle boots which were laced up with a brown shoelace. A few bracelets were on her left wrist, just barely avoiding her small controller tattoo. She held a little clutch bag in her right hand which held her phone, some money and makeup. She smiled.

"You look beautiful." Sean gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Thank you. You look amazing, too."

He wore a white dress shirt with a navy blue tie. He also had a smart pair of black, skinny jeans and shiny, black shoes on. His hair was still in his usual, slightly messy style. He wore his glasses which made his ocean blue eyes look a little bigger than usual.

"Taxi will be here any minute. Do you need anything before we head out?" He was stuffing his phone and wallet into his pockets. Beth scooped her keys up from the desk beside the door and dropped them into her clutch.

"Not anymore."

A loud beep sounded from outside. Beth peered out of the window and spotted the taxi. The two of them headed outside. Beth locked the front door before getting into the taxi.

"Where to?" Beth stated the address and the taxi set off.

She stayed on the family group chat for the entire journey, reading messages out to Sean. He read them over her shoulder as well.

"Everyone is so excited to meet you." She giggled.

"I'm super excited to meet them. Maria is my favourite person ever."

"Stop saying her name!" Beth groaned.

"Your dad is going to be there too, isn't he?" Beth nodded. "Good old Al."

Before they reached Beth's mother's house, Sean gave her a light peck on the cheek. He knew it might be a while until he could show his affection, so decided to quickly do so while in the taxi. Then, as the taxi pulled up outside the brick bungalow, Beth let out a little gasp.

"Someone planted flowers since the last time I was here." She handed the taxi fare over to the driver. She then exited the car, followed by Sean, and hurried up the path.

She knocked on the door using the letterbox flap as a knocker and waited, bouncing on the balls of her feet. The door was opened by Maria, whose slight fracture had healed almost completely. She wore a black dress dotted with pink flowers and a pair of black, flat shoes. She had also applied a thin coat of foundation, as well as mascara, pale pink lipstick and a small amount of blush. She had gotten her nails done at a salon in a deep shade of red. She grinned at the sight of her daughter and bundled her in a hug.

"I've missed you. I can't believe you couldn't pop in the Saturday you got back." She spoke.

"I had a meeting at work and couldn't find the time during the last week." Beth's dark blue hair bounced slightly as she stepped back. "Mum, this is Sean. Sean, mum."

"Hi, Maria." He smirked evilly, holding out a hand for her to shake. Maria swatted it away and brought him into a hug as well. He had to hunch slightly so that he was at her height. "Nice to finally meet you."
